Default 2009 VINTAGE OFFROAD NATIONALS OFFICIAL THREAD SEPT 18-20TH

2009 Vintage Offroad Nationals

I'm very proud to announce the 2nd Annual Vintage Offroad Nationals. After last years amazing race, myself and RCHR are rearing to go for another year of the Rally in the Valley and this year will promise to be our best yet! In addition to all of last years great racing, we're adding a swap meet. That's right, who need eBay when you can set up your very own vintage micro-shop. Table space is $10 per 4ft section and will be held on Saturday morning from 9am to 12pm. There will also be food this year with a full grill, soda, water and all the goodies that fuel every r/c racers day. We're working on a few other goodies so stay tuned to this thread for more updates and sponsor additions as the months go on! Can't wait to see you all in CT for some good old fashion bump and run racing!

So who's coming to this event.

I know for a fact that a bunch of guys from the RC10Talk are coming to this event, from different parts of the U.S.

I'll be racing my RC10T in Truck and Losi XX in 2wd buggy.

Can't wait....

Im hoping that I can make it this year. The difficult part is deciding WHICH of my several vintage cars to bring!

No better time to get back to your roots.

i will make it a point to get to this race this yr. think the blackfoot wants to get off the shelf and stretch its legs. the t-shot and rc10 might also want to play.

might only put foot out there just to make some circuits for fun, not at any spd. perhaps you'll let folks in like real vintage races where there are some guys in the class who wanna race their rides but others who just want to parade the vehicles around in all their glory.

any ideas on having a class for folks running original gear? be kinda neat. now granted wideband is 'technically' illegal...still like keepin the cars as they were. just thinkin aloud, such a great event!!!

That was my thought. I think a race w/ handout 540 silver can motors and a 1500 sport pack handout battery. Stock "nub" tires. In the case of the RC10s (which is what I primarily run) keep it to the 6gear transmissions.

The only big change would be radio gear and esc (but bonus if you run vintage ESC and/or radio).

yeh i think they still make cheap 1500 packs, old packs well we know they might only run 90sec. i think my old 1700SCE from 1988 might run a stock motor for bout 30sec. doesnt have to be can motors, just vintage motors. any1s guess, i'd just like to hang out w/others who enjoy the old 1s like i do. get out there a time or 2 and run em around (in my case nice and easy), just to let em run again b4 goin back on the shelf. and see some others who like to show that b/c they are old doesnt mean they cant work heh

There were guys there running original 540 motors on their Classics rides, so don't be afraid to get in there with your original equipment and give it a nice little dust off...

One kid ran his Wild One and Pajero with the very slow stock gear, and actually came in third in Classics class.

I wish I had a "Classics Class" runner, that's one of those fun classes that you have fun just watching them run.

yeh for instance with my 'foot. the idea would be for all 4 wheels to never be off ground at no pt. perhaps not even run the entire heat. just pull off and let those competing have a dig. polycarb bodies, kc lights, body mounts, front grills, and dogbones are precious. same with t-shot, granted i have a cache of parts for that now and 're-re' helps. have vintage rc10 now just like the old days. but that'll be setup with vintage gear. ideally like to find some old 2.1/2.0 or 2.1/1.9 wheel setups for that. 1.9/1.6 is real hard to find and is limited to stock tires.
