Default Sphere help

i bought a sphere recently and something is up with it. one of the guys at my track set it up and it worked fine for the first 2 weeks. now this week when i turn it on, the motor smokes and the sphere gets very hot in like seconds. it did this a week ago, but i turned the car on/off and that fixed it. Now something is wrong with it and my motor now. any thoughts? i checked everything and found nothing touching or loose

Is it a Sphere Comp with the auto Brushed/brushless motor sensor?

If so did you try to run it when the sensor wire was disconnected? If the sensor wire wasn't hooked up the speedo thought it was a brushed motor and sent power down 2 of the motor wires at the same time which prety much instantly fries the motor. The Speedo might be OK though.

No I think LRP is having some problems. I bought a new SPX last week. Plugged it in for the first time without a motor hooked up and it went up in smoke in less than 10 sec. No the battery wasn't hooked up wrong and I didn't even have time to start programming it. I've owned over a dozen LRPs and have never had any problems until now but I have seen some of my fellow racers have similiar problems.

Bump, I sent the sphere back to LRP but the guy there didn't find anything wrong with it. Everything was plugged in correctly, I bought another 10.5 thinking that my motor was bad, but it went up in smoke in seconds. I'm stumped

Why would it be a bad motor? The first one burnt out and I thought it was a bad motor, but I bought another NEW 10.5 from orion and that one burnt out too. Once I turn the switch on, the motor smokes instantly. ALL the wires are hooked up correctly.

You just said the ESC checked out ok , so it has to be the motor ....

Borrow a motor that you know is Ok and check again...
