RC8e packs
#34

Guess I'm the odd ball here, I am running a 13.2v 4600 A123 pack in my RC8e - fits the tekno batt tray perfect. (4s2p)
8 cells cost me under $100 - and can charge at 20amps if needed to get busy fast (4-5c)

Wanted to give this thread a bump. There are a few new packs out now so I wanted to see if anyone has anything new to add to the mix. I am looking at the Maxamps 4s 5258 60c pack. Has anyone given that pack a shot? It's a bit cheaper then the new 4s reedy.I am running 2s 28c smc packs right now. They are getting a little hot after 10min (118.00). So I was going to buy a larger c pack and save the smc packs for heats.

Stick with SMC 5400 mAH 40c. Best battery out there, best customer service, best product.

I need a hard case 4s pack. One of the tracks I run at is roar packs only.

I like that pack too. It's just not out yet and I need to order by tonight.
I dont see too many people talking about the Max amps packs. Don't know if that's good or bad..They have that 4s hard 5258 that fits in the ae tray looks nice.

I currently use 2x 2s 5000mah Turnigy in my RC8e. One of the solering tabs fell off. I agree, some of the soldering sucks on the zippy/turnigy Lipo packs. Even my 3s5000mah flightmax lipo packs for my E-Revo had bad soldering joints. I am currently looking for 4s packs. I want them because it'll be less wiring (cleaner look), and less resistance (less heat). I'm also wanting 2 packs.
I know you get what you pay for in this hobby but I can't get myself to spend
$298 for Reedy Lipo packs 5000mah 4s 40c. I'm sure they are GREAT quality, but dang, 600 bucks for two packs.
$170 for SMC 5400mah 40c 4s. Again, great quality, but its a soft pack. I believe hard packs look neater and the wiring is more secure.
$250 for thunder power 4s 5000mah 40c.
I don't believe I'm going to buy any zippys/trunigy anymore. I myself have bought 6 lipo packs from them. Great power, but I can't trust them. The soldering really bothers me. I hate the feeling when I'm at the track and worried if the batteries are do something crazy. Again there only 65 bucks. 5000mah 30c 4s.
I believe I might try out the Thunder Power batteries next. 5000mah 4s 40c hardcase. I also believe I saw them at my local hobby store for $169. What do yall think and what packs are yall going to try?

personally i like to run 2 2s
I am kicking around the 2s reedy packs (only $200).
Well I know $200 is alot but the 4s pack is going to be 289.00??
More money for less plastic I don't get it..
Why do you prefer 2s packs? It's a lot simpler to charge a 4s pack (unless you have a duo). Plus you get a weight savings.
I am guessing that since no one has answered on the Max amp pack nobody is using it yet. I may take a chance on it. Need to hear some more opinions keep them coming. Thanks

I just sold my Maxamps packs for the same reason. I'm going to try running the SMC packs now. Just got a pair of the 2s 28c 6000 hard case packs to try as well as a 4s 40c 5400 soft pack. I've had really good luck with the Protek 2s hard case packs too. Sold the Maxamps and kept the Protek's if that says anything. I have high hopes for these new SMC packs I just got.
I have a boat that takes twin 2s packs so that's the only reason I keep 2s packs in my rotation. Otherwise I would go with all 4s with my cars.
