Default Steering Problem leads to electric problem

This one is driving me crazy. I have an RC10T4 with a Castle Creations 1/10 Mamba Max + 4600 kV Combo, Futaba R603FS 3-Channel Receiver, and a Futaba BLS451 servo powered by a MaxAmps 30C Lipo 5250 3S 11.1V Battery Pack. I'm also using a Futaba 3PKS transmitter.

The steering would start off strong and then lose torque after a few minutes. The wheels would not turn on the ground. If i lifted the truck, the wheels would turn slowly. I thought this may be an issue with the Mamba Max output of 5v to power the BLS451 (4.8 to 6v). I switched servos and put in the Associated servo that came with the RTR RC10T4 and the same problem with the steering occured. I even tried switching out the Futaba R603FS and still no luck.

What could possibly be causing this? Bad solder on the dean plugs? Bad Servo? Bad battery? MM not delivering enough volts to the servo?? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I run a BEC with my Mamba Max. Steering is super fast with 6 volts

My set up,
T4, MM 4600 with BEC
Futaba FASST and 3pk
MaxAmps 6500
JR 9100s

true, I use the CC BEC set to 6.9V which is crazzy fast, the way I prefer it

So a BEC should help? I noticed the Futaba R603FS and the BLS451 both use 6v. So if the Mamba Max is only providing 5v to the receiver/servo....this could be the cause of my issues.

No, A BEC will just regulate your voltage better through the life of the battery and will also keep your Spektrum receiver from resetting from a low voltage say 4.2V which it does drop to without a BEC when servo is in a bind etc.

The internal BEC in the MM can get stressed when running 3s. If you ran a 2s pack I think you would not see any issues.

I agree with the others... run a separate BEC or voltage regulator (VR). If you have a rx pack of any type... even a 4 AA pack... you can do a test run with it to see if that eliminates the issue.

If you use a separate VR, you need to remove the red wire on the MM rx plug, which effectively disables the internal BEC. The VR's rx wire can be plugged into any available slot on the rx.

Added the Castle BEC and the servo works great now. My MambaMax ESC is now shutting down after about 5 minutes run time. I'm going to install a fan and see if this helps. The motor doesn't get hot but the ESC is really hot. gearing in the T4 is 16/87t.

Whats the timing at?
A 4600kv motor shouldn't be stressing the Mamba at all.
