Default SBv2 Issues

Awhile back I did some research and decided on a New Academy SBV2. Well, I have not had too much luck with it. I blew out the rear dif, built another one and now the latest one is making noises. The second one with hardly any driving on it.

Needless to say I am not all that pleased with the car. My own non professional opinion is that the SBV2 was designed for Nicads, or NiMH batterys and brushed motors. I am running a 2s lipo with the Castle 5700 motor.

Am I building wrong, or am I over powering this car?

If I am overpowering, then what 1/10 4wd buggy/truggy is a good solid electric car that can handle lipos and a 5700 motor ??? (and doesn't cost a fortune !)

I am planning to race on a 1/10 scale track.

Thanks !!!!

Probably the best advice I can give is to go search through the sbv2 thread. There is a lot of good info, but you may have to dig a little.

There is a detailed walk-through of building a smooth Academy diff on this page from the Gv2 thread.

Also, do you have the metal outdrives or the plastic ones? The plastic ones are notorious for causing problems. I prefer using associated diff grease as opposed to the kit stuff; it seems to last longer and make the diff action smoother. The slipper should slip before the diff, and the diff should not be run loose or the rings will groove really fast.
