Default guys help me out...

ok so i have a slash with a mamba 5700 system.. its geared at 15/86 and is ok fast but still gets hot... i think the 5700 just sucks for the slash...lol if i go any lower it will be a dog.. i run it off a smc 5200 24c 2 cell. my friend has a meduca 3200 motor in his and he is geared at 25/83 and still stays under 100 f ???? he told me to go with a vxl motor and keep my mamba max esc? he said it will be way faster than my 5700 motor in my slash because i can gear it up alot.... seem like he is right. THE 5700 IT TO MUCH FOR THE SLASH HAS NO BOTTOM END..lol the vxl motor make twice the tourqe.... let me no what you guys think...

Actually, you "might" be geared too low, which can have the same effect as gearing too high. Try a bigger pinion, and when you have the motor off the truck, check and make sure your tranny is nice and free. If you have any binding anywhere, that could cause it to run hot.

I'm running mine on stock gearing -19/86, Sidewinder with 2S IB 30C 5000mah - yeah, the motor gets warm, but all of these 540 size Castle motors seem too.

Think you're undergeared....

no im not under geared at all.... if i go over 17 tooth its out i china.... the 5700 sucks in the slash... the 5700 with my pack the amps make it over heat... maybee if i would run a 7 cell stick it would be fine.... i even called castle and they said the 5700 is not for a slash....

just my point. the sidewinder is half the esc the mamba max is i also just replaced my tranny case because i broke the end of it... so the gears are fine and i also greased them. all i have read about the 5700 and the slash do not mix even from castle. the combo is vxl motor and mamba esc. my buddy has that setup and crushed my 5700 on the street. he runs 25/83 gearing i run 17/86 on the street and hits 155f in just 10 min.. his temp was 110f and was blowing my doors off

Like they said I would try a bigger pinion maybe a 19 or 20 tooth. or try a VXL, I run a 23/86 on a vxl and it wheelies like mad on pavement and my temps stay around 120

just out of curiosity, do you have the drag break on? This will increase heat and actually puts as much if not more strain on the motor as full throttle. Just a thought. I had heat issues at first when I switched to lipos with my slash (18/86 gearing). Turned of the drag brake and have been runnin cool ever since. Just a thought.

the lower the kv (rpm] the more torque... = gearing=more speed in the slash at least...

i see i see... the best setup I have found is a MM ESC and the vxl motor. I think you would be happy with this setup due to the ability to tune the esc and the fact that the VXL is a 3500KV motor that runs super strong. better yet if you dont care about tuning the esc and you just wanna bash run the full VXL system its strong and stays pretty low temp wise.
