That's kind of what I figured. When you say a modest hitec digital, any ideas on what model numbers would work well with essentially a stock SC10 otherwise but not underpowered either? Do I need to look for a specific level of torque or something else?

Are you being serious?

For me it was the Hitec HS5625MG. $45 at Hobby People locally.

Savox 1258TG would be better by a country mile for only a few bucks more, but you may need to get a BEC, a cap, or some other extra thing to get it to work right. That's because the Savox servo has a lot more amps to pull and the ESC you're running just may not handle it. Still, if you wanted to kick ass and take names, the Savox wins. For me, I only had ~$50 to spend and I wanted one "right now", so the Hitec was for me. I'll probably swap out for the Savox later.

Because I'm a complete Newbie, can you explain what a BEC, a cap, and what that other thing may need to be potentially? I hate buying new parts that I'll regret again in the future, because it wasn't quite enough, if that make sense.

dude not cool. I was drinking something when I read this reply and bout choked to death. anyway, I was trying to run it in my 4x4 with a 12t pinion 62t spur 38 pitch. can someone explain what the different pitches do for your vehicle? I figured it was bigger gear for the more weight than a 2wd. and does the bigger pitch put more strain on your motor? and what are the advantages to running either pitch.

BEC = Battery Eliminator Circuits
Cap = capacitor It's like a battery. it stores power

the Savox servo draw a lot of amps. which if you turn one lock to lock it will turn the receiver off which makes you lose all power to the truck.
CAP or glitch buster is the cheapest way to go. 6 bucks. I have two in my trucks and they work perfect. I have also ran a BEC. this in a way is the same thing but different

I used a CC BEC and used it to power the servo alone. it was adjustable so I can adjust the speed /TQ of the servo by the voltage 4.8v or 6v .

My 4x4 with a MMP ESC has to have a CAP
My 2wd with a Stock ESC has to have a CAP with the servo
My buggy with a Novak. does not need a add on cap like above. the ESC already has one wired to it.

If need I can post a pic of one installed in my truck

Anyone have the part # for the spacer that goes in the front arm? It says 7922 but that is for the caster block only.

i have 2 savox servos, the one in my SC10 with normal sized spektrum reciever has had no issues, the one in my 22 buggy with the micro reciever had issues all the time, i would get about 2 minutes into a run and the whole car would shut down, couldnt figure out what was going on until i started reading about the savox servos being power hungry, installed the cap and problem fixed.....

i stripped out a left rear, the nut would keep coming loose and let the wheel spin. keep fresh wheel nuts on hand, seems like the nylon wears out fast and they wont stay tight. i take them off every run to clean the tires and they nylon doesnt last long.

Use the steel wheel nut, make sure they have been kimpled or have little dents on the top on the nut to add pressure to the nylon .

Some don't have these little dents and those do not have the grip you need and can come loose.....

Also, you could get the Jconcepts wheel nuts. They have serrated edges on the back side. I switched to these, and have not had a problem since. I went through about 8-10 of those nylon locknuts before I switched. They may seem expensive at the time of purchase, but you make that money back pretty quick by saving your wheels.
