strc makes an aluminum heatsink motor plate that will help keep your motor cool. here's the link: http://www.teamstrc.com/index.php?ro...product_id=813

Radio (Transmitter, receiver):
Servo:

Requirements:
Gear capable of getting me through my learning stages, and useable for club racing (10.5T & 13.5T)
Prefer Gear that will last and can be transferred to another model if I decide to get another SCT.
Budget is not limited but I’m made of money either, I’m an avid “you get what you pay for” buyer and I have no problems waiting the time needed to save for the “right” gear. On a flip side though, I am happy to go down the cheap route as long as the product is reliable.
Shipping is a major cost for me, so being able to get all of the above from one international seller is a bonus.

Cheers guys,

i run a SC10 2WD with a Hobby Wing 9.5T brushless motor with Hobby Wing 60A ESC. Very reliable and inexpensive set-up compared to something like Tekin or Mamba. May be a great place to start if you don't want to spend too much right off the bat. Gearing I use is 18T/87T, Savox 1258 servo. Chose Savox because that's what most of the guys at the local track suggested to get. Track I run at is NorCal Hobbies in Uniton City, CA. Very pleased with the response and torque that I'm getting with the servo. I get plenty of torque for jumps and plenty of speed on the straights. Motor is temped at around 160 after 10-15 minutes of run time on 2S Gen ACE Lipos. I've purchased a few things from www.rcmart.com. They have great prices, international shipping and should have everything you need to get you going. As for the radio and transmitter, I'm still using the stock associated one's that came with the truck. Although, I will be looking to upgrade it to a Spectrum with telemetry. Hope this info helps and good luck.

Nice to hear about the other end of the spectrum when it comes to gear, I prices up the Hobby wing motor and esc and it comes to about $120, Tekin ESC and good Motor at $230 (with a voucher). So I'm looking at a sliding scale of $100, not much of a gap, what side I go will depend on other items to purchase.

How long have you been running the Hobbywing gear? Any problems with it so far, it is on my list as an option.

will give rcmart a look over tonight, Thanks.

How does that motor plate differ from the Associated FT plate?

Get the Tekin now or get it later, eventually you'll wish you had.

Seems like it would help with rear traction
I believe they're B44 aluminum hubs. No reason not to use them, except cost. I prefer them, but mainly because they require less maintenance and allow for quick/easy toe adjustment. I'd even recommend upgrading to B44 rear hubs once you break a stock bearing, and if cost is an issue even the plastic ones are better because you run the bigger/stronger outer bearing on them...

Associated has an app, I believe, but I've never used it (one of my friends has it).

What about the servo?

+1 on Tekin RS for the ESC.

Pretty much. If this doesn't happen, you'll get an LRP (which is even more expensive).

I'm about to receive a roller that has .5 B44 hubs. When I upgraded to the aluminum hubs on my SC10, I got the 0 deg hubs since that's what the stock plastic ones are (and most setup sheets call for 0 deg hubs).

I like running 3 deg toe in the rear. To get this, do I just have to use a 2.5 block in conjunction with the .5 hubs? Or are there some other calculations involved? I tried searching for it but couldn't find any definitive answers.

on my SC10 for about 3 months now. I had it on my TT01 prior to that for about a year and have had no issues with the motor or esc. Also, comes with a programming card which makes it really easy to set-up and/or tune. For the money, I've been really happy with it.
