Questions:
  • Can one of you measure how long your rear tie rods are?
the tie rods that were in the bag for that step were the wrong ones... right?

i started to the rear ones and then the instructions call for total of 2.8"...

but the one i'm holding is longer.... oh well, i just eyeballed and seems to look okay with driveshaft being level to the ground.

btw, what the easy way of popping the cups off the ball joints without tearing/wearing them down from constantly popping on and off...

I think they copied some stuff from the B4 manual directly, the length of one tie rod was way off in my manual so I just adjusted it to get the correct camber. I believe that was the only mistake I found in the manual.

the directions say to use grease on the o rings , i think thats wrong . i have always used assosiate green slime on the o rings and never had a problem with leaky shocks.... well unless i bent the shafts .

well after one practice and one race night my box stock sc10 has worked fine. i did switch out the kit tires for traxxas slash tires. i tried the kit tires and have tried the pro-line tires before, but the only ones that seem to work at my local track are the slash tires. i think we should stick with a tire that won't wear out, but i also agree that we might need a tire with more traction. i don't want to have to buy new tires every other week to keep up though. that's what i've liked about the slash tires. they work better after there a month or so old and never seem to wear out.

Default tires that fit stock wheels

i almost forgot, here's the short list of what will fit the stock wheels as of now.
feel free to add to these if i missed anything.

i've heard, but not seen that jconcepts makes a goosebump tire ???

pro-line slayer tires (NOT PRO-LINE TIRES FOR A SLASH)

traxxas slash/slayer tires

and of course the stock tires that come in the kit.

i do hope that everyone sticks with the stock corr type wheels and doesn't allow t4 or 1/8th scale wheels to be allowed in this class.

Well fri. night the SC10 made its first run on an outdoor loamy but good traction track. There were two of us and we were 1st and 2nd an a lap ahead of third with a Slash. We both ran the J Concepts Goosebumps with black grease in the diffs and they were on rails. I also TQed stock truck and the times of the SC10 were pretty close to my T4 laps. I'm going to make a few adjustments but if you have any doubts about the black grease in the diff I'm telling you to try it first. I actually think its as fast as the T4 except it was traction rolling in a big sweeper so I had to feather it through that section. Everyone was impressed but a few of the Slash guys and we told them going into the race that we didn't count against them because it wasn't fair. I haven't grinned like that racing in a long time!

NEW issue... what is the deal with the roll pins for the rear axles???????

on the firearms i work on, i use a punch and a small hammer to drive them through...

any secrets?

can i switch out to a hex hub???????
Bevel the edge with a small file on the pin and barely start it. Then take a pair of plyers or needle nose and press it in by using the backside of the axle. They have always been tight so they don't fall out. Once their in its much easier to take in and out.

Yes I did! Plenty of motor. One of my buddies has a very good Slash with the stock motor and top end was close but no comparison in the corners. This thing was railing! I'm still grinning!
