You are over geared for 5S operation. The pinion you are using would be close for 4S operation. Maybe around a 12 for 5S?

If you are running a 42mm motor, 14 is about the lowest you can go with any of the motor mounts. I am not aware of larger spurs that fit the 9E diffs. It would probably be easiest to go to 4s or get a lower Kv motor for 5S.

Losi 8ight bodies will work. The front of the shell will need some trimming to make it fit right. I'm running a bulldog body with velcro on the sides and mudguards and it fits pretty good. I also modded the front mount to sit lower, but I'm not sure it was really neccesary.

Battery fits pretty well too (4s), forward outboard corner does hit the shell though.

I have a Bitty Designs Force and Fighter for the Losi 8ight on order, I can let you know how those turn out when I finish them if your interested.

The main problem with the original drive shaft is that it was too long and didn't have any room for chassis flex. The universal one that you posted was shorter and was supposed to fix the problem. The rear chassis brace didn't do anything to fix the problem since the flex of concern is in front of the center diff.
