if going to all this trouble, why not just go for the uni shaft mod?

Default Carbon Fiber Center Drive Shaft, With or without the Universal Mod. Contact Erik.

This is the question I pondered as well. Though I like the Universal on the front of the center drive shaft, rather than the stock dog bone/drive pin type, the drive pins on the stock aluminum dog bone type are replaceable(and I do like replaceable drive pins, there only 5.oo dollars for ten 3mm x 14mm Hoody Spring Steel Drive Pins), and the Universal, though much much better than a CVD, is not rebuildable, ie. changable drive pins upon wearing.

At 53.oo dollars each + donor parts(you ship to Erik), ie. Universal, Stock Aluminum Dog Bone, or CVD(Erik has not confrimed he will make a CVD, but you can ask if that interst you). And, even though CVD's are somewhat rebuildable-I personally do not like the small set screw inside a CVD(I've used lock tight), unless someone has come out with a larger CVD that accepts a larger set screw, but even then, the CVD system still wear the shaft as well, and the shaft cannot be rebuilt, but rather must be replaced. I would love for Nasa to spend a day on improving our Drive Trains, That would be super sweet :-)

If we accept this part is not going to be rebuildable, and thus is a throwaway, then we can go with the Universal end, which seems to be the most stable, and best choice to go for. It's these very questions that I'm asking myself right now, and I've not yet put my order in to Erik, for this reason. Some days I like the Universal, other days I think of staying with the Aluminum ends and to go with the center part being replaced by carbon fiber, such that kman has. By the way, the carbon fiber drive shaft kman is using, (see kman's you tube video link in his previous post) this drive shaft has a pin going through the aluminum and carbon fiber at both ends, Erik calls it a Pinned Carbon Fiber shaft, it will not spinn free; where epoxy alone, has in the past broken free in earlier test models that Erik has made. The Pinned Carbon Fiber Shaft is Super Strong and not one has broken free.

By the way, anyone that wishes to have a carbon fiber center drive shaft made, Erik said he will make one for you. Just email Erik and let him know what your specific needs are. I believe Erik can also make the Universal, carbon fiber drive shaft. That's Universal on the front, dog bone in the rear, as a few racers here have made, calling it the Universal Mod.

Erik's Email Address is : [email protected]

PS. I ran my Hyper 9e at West Coast RC Raceway yesterday, It was one sweet practice day. I'll post the you tube link first chance I get. That may be very soon indeed. I would like everyone here to comment on my video, Please. Thank you :-)

Default You Tube Practice Video with Matrix Prototype Chassis and Parts.

Here is a video of my practice yesterday at West Coast RC Raceway in La Mirada, California. This is an indoor Clay track.

You Tube Video of My Practice. Running my Hyper 9e.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=um6kVoXAJ1U

PS. I'm running the JConcept Barcodes(Gold Compound). This day I ran the Xcelorin 2100kv motor with one, 3cell 5000mah 40c LiPo(Fits Exactly into stock battery tray, with 2/3erds of the stock battery tray foam placed to the rear of the battery tray). I'm running the ProLine Crowd Pleezer body for the Hyper 9nitro buggy(bought from Nitro House). Though I Just bought the Hyper 9nitro JConcepts Illuzion Hi Flow body, I'm sending to John of MoosRacing to have it made in Carbon Fiber. Enjoy the video. And Please make videos of your Hyper 9e and Post the link here to share your practice and racing with us as well. Have a great day.

Do you have some kind of chassis brace that isn't shown? If not, you may want one since it appears that you eliminated the from brace and you cut the battery tray which is the middle chassis brace. I like the layout, but I would be concerned that the center shaft may be at risk without some support.

Default hard to see

The front chassis brace is hard to see but it is the little plastic piece on top of my steering servo,But the car is not running yet because i'm waiting for this http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y17...3.jpg&newest=1 so i can properly fasten the front chassis brace.
