Default Best 1/8 brushless setup

what is the best esc/motor setup available right now in your opinions and why. Everyone at my local track has the Novak setup and I have seen that some are having some issues and I would like some info on what else is out there.

I've personally seen several of the Novak HV systems fail, and for no good reason. I have, and enjoy some of their 10th scale systems, all good and reliable. For some reason, the HV systems don't like anything over 3S, which is a little too hot for these heavy 8th scales. I would suggest either the Xcelerin system or the Castle system. I have both, and they are both good systems.

I am running the Novak system. I have not had a chance to race it yet just run some laps on a small indoor track. I will have a better idea after the Silver State race next week. There are a lot of choices out there and you can read all about them here.

tekin of course is great.
so is CC mamba monster.
what is your setup?

Neu motors are pretty unstopable as well.

on a budget you can go with the Ezrun systems.

bring a back up if youre going to a big outdoor race.

I have seen novak hv fail everytime that it has been raced in this area on a big outdoor track in 1.8th scale.

I'm building a 1/8 Truggy at the moment. I won't be racing it though.

I'm planning on using a HobbyWing 150A controller and here is why:

-Cheapest
-Programming box is the easiest solution for tweaking I've seen. And they even have an advanced box now that has a USB interface for firmware updates
-Every other EZRUN controller I have hasn't failed yet, they seem very tough and well built.

The downside would be customer support. I've seen a HobbyWing rep post over on rc-monster once, and technically their stuff does have a warranty but I wouldn't want to have to use it. I don't think I'll have to though based on my personal experience with their products.

And I plan on using a Medusa or CC/Neu motor with it. It depends on whether or not CC can get a lower KV motor released in time because 2200kv is a bit much for 6s. Medusa makes a great range of motors and they have a 2 year warranty.
