Default Good Charger for around $50-$60? PEAK

Whats a good PEAK charger for around $50-$60? I need a new, up-to-date charger. NiMH and NiCD charging.

(I need to update, I have an OLD (1991) Timer charger w/adjustable current) Luckily I dont have any exspensive batts!

MRC Super Brain 959...$46 at Tower, and the only problem I've heard of is it gets a little warm when charging, so it's helpful to keep a fan pointed at it during charging, or, if you want, I can find a how-to article on putting a fan in the charger for you, if you decide to get it.

I'd get the DuraTrax IntelliPeak AC/DC Pulse Charger.

1) It's 52.99 (on towerhobbies.com)
2) discharges and charges NiCd & NiMH (only Sub-C Cells)
3) Know a friend who has it and hasn't had trouble with it (says charger gets a little warm to hot sometimes [keep a fan near vents to cool off])
4) Can change amount of amps on type of battery:
(NiMH = 0.5A - 3.0A)
(NiCd = 3.1A - 6.5A)
5) Choice of Slow Charge, Peak Charge, & Discharge
6) Can charge 4 - 8 Cell NiMH/NiCd batteries

Sounds good, but just my opinion, go with whatever you want, just felt like putting my 2 cents in .

when we talk about a peak charger we are talking about the chargers ability to detect when the battery has reached a full charge (peak) and stops charging.Pulse charging is how the charger delivers the charge to the batt,as in a pulsing wave. The other type of charging is called linear and in that case the charge is delivered at a steady rate the whole charging period(constent). Other types of chargers are Timed, when a set time is reached the charger stops charging, and Tempiture in this case the charger has a probe that sences the tempiture of the cell and stops charging at a predetermined temp. Hope this helps clear things up for you on types of chargers and types of charge.

I've got a Superbrain 959, and right out of the box it false peaks on 6 cell 3000 and 3300 mah batteries. It charges 5 cell and 1 cell fine.

I wouldnt get one of those I had one that I used to charge batts a few years ago when I was just getting into rc and later used to charge rx batts, but somthing went wrong with the AC part of the thing, and now it blows the fuse no matter what the second I plug it in. It still works if I hook it up to my starter box battery though. It also only charges up to 3 amps without a power supply.
