Default Which Brushless ESC Should I Get?

Hey guys,
I am looking to get a brushless ESC for 1/10th scale truck or 4wd. I would like to know your opinions on these three brands, Novak, LRP, and Tekin. I hope some of you that have used these can lead me in the right direction.

Thanks

Josh

For the money and if you don't plan on running less than an 8.5 turn motor it's really hard to beat the Novak Havoc as far as bang for the buck.

That's what I run in my XXX-4.

GTB has no motor limit, can run brushed or brushless, also has lipo cut off.

Others have the same, but I have been happy with both mine for well over a year.

The Speed Passion GT2.0 LPF is great as well. Super small foot print, low motor limit and comes with the cool progam box. I haven't had any problems with mine. Oh and the Speed passion also comes with the best Stock fan on the market. Its competitvly priced as well. Look for it @ Stormer hobbies.

If you plan on running mod motors then I would go with the LRP sphere. The Novak GTB requires a fan when running 7.5 or faster which tends to break alot if you race often.

GO WITH THE TEKIN, you will never look back. no fan to break, no heat sink to melt, and you can tune on your computer.

Sounds good guys, I will probably be using this in a 4wd and 2wd truck. Thanks for the advice so far.

I meant to mention the mamba AND Speed passion, but I was rushing around when I typed this thread. I figured when I asked for suggestions and reviews someone would catch my errors, Thank you.

New list is LRP, Novak, Speed Pashion, Tekin, and Mamba Max...

Thanks

Josh

LRP, Novak, and Speed Passion are all good. I don't have any experience with the Tekin brushless stuff, but I've heard and seen good things about them. Below are my thoughts.

LRP Sphere
+very reliable
+AE has good customer service if it breaks
+has a good amount of tuning options that make it aggressive or less aggressive in modified racing
-not the best for stock racing

Novak GTB
+extremely durable
-limited tuning options but runs well in modified
-bigger footprint

LRP SPX (my pick for stock racing)
+just like the Sphere, but best in stock racing as it has voodoo in it that varies timing based off motor load

Speed Passion Gran Turismo
+pretty durable
+only one of the four that works with all brushless motors
+Very tunable and easy to tune at the track with tuning card/box
-not as aggressive as SPX in stock racing

If it were me, I'd pick the SPX then the Gran Turismo 2.0. Both are hard to get right now, but out there. The Sphere and the GTB are both a little dated by design, but are great options for modified racing. They just don't have ability to advance timing like the SPX or GT which is useful in stock racing. That being said, any of the four above would be great and provide hours of racing enjoyment

How are you planning to drive, race?or bash? I your going to bash then any of the "less money" esc's will be fine.If however your racing, and looking for the edge of ajustabiliy, then the Tekin rs or rs pro is what you want. With the hotwire it becomes the most versatile esc I've ever owned. and I owned or still own the gtb, mamba max, mamba monster max speed passion gt1.1. can't wait for the tekin rx8 for my buggy!
