Default brushless slash mamba max 5700

guys i have a brand new slash and brand new mamba max 5700 combo,new smc 5200 2 cell 24c lipo. whats a good pinion to start with... please only guys who are running this set up.. i no castle said temps under 165 are good but i need a start point on gearing.

Where are you driving the truck? Gearing kind of depends on what you are using it for...

Why not start with the pinion it comes with and see how that does? If that works out well, get yourself a hardened aftermarket pinion (like Robinson Racing) in the same tooth count. The stock pinion is made from soft aluminum and will wear out quickly and will take the spur with it.

I am running 14T, mm5700, 8.4v 4500, Proline switch, locked diff.

Except for the lipos', I had the same set-up initially even as the MMax ESC was overkill. I tried 15t at first then settled for a 16T eventually which was spot on for me. You may also want to try setting punch control to at least 30%, start power at "low" and timing at its "lowest" so that your system will run cooler and longer due to better efficiency. I have since moved to a Sidewinder ESC.

i am running the same combo in my slash....i started on a 14tooth pinion,but i havnt run it in a while,so im interested to see what other people are using....i run the 90 tooth spur,what are other guys using

yea im running a 18 tooth robinson raceing gear with stock spur..... it seems sick lol.. waiting for it to stop raining.. so i can check temps

I ran 18T, 16T, 15T, 14T all get hellishly hot 190+ I'm ok with my 14t temps are still high but power is still enough for my track and bashing needs. I could not get a vid yesterday... next time
