Default Yokomo MR4BC Special

Well I didn't see one, so here's a thread for the new MR4BC Special. I'm lookin at getting one, but can't really find good specs on it, does anyone know if the stock stuff is graphite?

Default RE: Is it graphite?

I'd say yes. Go here http://www.yokomousa.com/manuals/mr4...ist_public.PDF
(MR4-BC Special manual) and have a look at the parts rundown.

Two main items are:
ZS-002GB Graphite Main Chassis
ZS-017BG Graphite Front and Rear Shock Tower

The bulkheads/arms/hub cariers are standard Yokomo composite ... not sure if these are truely 'graphite' composite, but they are damn strong either way.

I kinda thought that the chassis/shock towers would be graphite, but just didn't know. So does anyone have any first hand experience with the buggy yet?

The MR4-BC Special is a fusion of the MR4-TC (belt drive, not MR4TC-SD), MR4-BC (not 'Special') and MX-4 (with a bit of MR4-MT thrown in for good measure). Basically the suspension arms, bulkheads and hub carriers are MX-4 (legacy) components. The chassis is TC, the shock towers, front bulkhead cap, wing mounts (and many other bits) are BC/MT components.

Yokomo is a master of component re-use. Don't get me wrong ... they don't sit on their hands, they are continually refining and tweaking and routinely release 'special' components available as hop-ups.

It is true that the current BC Special kits are not 100% cutting edge either. You can buy some items (hub carriers most notably) that have been developed for use by Yokomo team drivers.

Yokomo Rocks!

I've gotta admit that the car does catch my interest, I'm picking up a B4 Friday, and if I get cought up in off-road, I might have to give the BC a shot

Thumbs up One suggestion ...

Make sure you have a local shop (or some resource) that caries Yokomo parts. You have listed yourself as being in San Diego ... so you shouldn't have a problem. The MX4/BC design is very sturdy ... but they will break if you crash very hard.

In my experience, not many online shops stock much in the way of Yokomo parts. Tower/Horizon have some stuff, but your best bet is local.

You can also get virtually any Yokomo part directly from Yokomo (www.YokomoUSA.com). They do charge full MSRP, so it can be rather expensive, but they generally have everything in stock (which is good).

I own a few MX-4's (hence my board name). For an older car, they are still very competitive. I have not got a BC Special yet ... but maybe I'll get one over the holidays.

I can only begin to imagine how much better the BC Special is at cornering. The center of gravity is quite a bit lower than the MX4...
