Default VXL problem

I just got a VXL system for my slash yesterday night, got it all installed, went to sleep, then school today, and had a problem. I set the throttle limits, made sure all the connections were good, the battery was charged (7-cell NiMh), turned it on, went 20 feet and died. Read through the manual and de-geared it back to stock (had put on the other gear that comes with the Slash, 21 tooth I think). Once again, it died, but went about 40 feet before the ESC started flashing red. The motor was dead-cold, same with the ESC, so I have no idea what is wrong. Just need an opinion before I make the 45 minute trek back to where I got it.

Thanks for that, runs perfect now.
It said in the manual you could run NiMh with it on, apparently not.
Thanks for your help.

hold down the button on the ECS for about 10 sec. It will make a sound and the led will go red. that will turn off your LVC. do the same to turn it back on if you ever go Lipo

I did just that and it runs fine now, even though Traxxas states it is unnecessary in their manual. Guess they will be getting an email from me soon about this.

Yep. LVC has to be off to work with NIMH. Same thing happened to me. I doubt an e-mail is gonna get them to reprint the manual. FWIW

I'm just glad I didn't have to waste 3 hours and $10 in gas getting it fixed.
