Default Did you see the 1/8th buggy class at the Nitro Challenge?

Looked pretty good on RCLIVE.COM!

I guess someone hucked the step up and cleared all the way to the next double jump face? I want to see that!

Chad Bradley was turning lap times that would hang right in there with the Pro Nitros. I would be curious to know his powertrain setup, and even better how close they got to dumping after 12 min as that track was FAST AND LOOOONG!

I want to race it next year for sure!

Yep someone jumped the step up to the next double. He didn't make it the second time he tried. It was cool to see the electrics, but it's just not the same as the nitros from a spectator stand point. But they are fast and showed there advantages in certain sections, good to see the class out there...

We ran it and it was pretty awesome. Chad Bradley was running a prototype Tekno RC conversion for the Jammin' X2 buggy. He was running a prototype Tekno RC Lektron square can buggy motor (1800kv) on 5s, Tekno RC 1/8th Elektri-Clutch and mechanical brakes. The track was HUGE (I've never seen such a track) and was very hard on the cars. The surface was as hard as concrete, literally.

You can see by the times that the Tekno chassis' (#1, #4, #5, #6) had no trouble finishing. I lost a tire around lap 13 but finished which is why my last laps were longer at the end, but I still finished All of the other chassis except #7 (a couple Losi's and a couple RCM's) dumped on the last lap. The Tekno crew had plenty in the tank. Props to Chad Bradley for the win by more than 2/3 of a lap over a couple of VERY fast pro drivers (#2 and #3). Next year will see a lot bigger turnout for the 1/8th Electrics.

So what was the point of having a STOCK SLASH class at a nitro event? I love the Slash class, but it just seems out of place at an event like this. Cant believe they didnt have a Ass. SC8/Traxxas Slayer exhibition race, would have made more sense to me. At least they are nitro and 1/8 scale (the slayer is close enough). Need to call the race The 1/8 Challenge now, not Nitro Challenge since the inclusion of non-nitro power now

I suggested that Joey calls it "The Electric Challenge... At the Nitro Challenge".

But really guys, this was one of the best RC experiences of my life (10 yrs of racing).

Almost 500 entries from around the world!

We got invited to pit in the Jammin pits and were treated like old friends by Jammin Jay and the other team members at Jammin. Props to them for having a very good weekend of racing. Taylor James finished 3rd in Pro Truggy after bumping up from the B and running a sweet race in the final. Chad and Tayler both made the A in Pro Buggy and finished 6th/7th! And Matt Gosch won the Motorama race back east, on the same weekend.

The track was SOOOO Frigggin BIG and Challenging!

I have never seen the top pro's have such a hard time with a particular track layout. Even after talking with a few of them, their responses were all the same. They were very "Challenged" by Nitro Challenge track this year!

I talked to Joey and he said Electric 1/8th would be on the flyer for next years event. So lets start getting ready now guys! It will be the biggest race of 1/8th electrics yet.

Exactly, it was a exhibition race and it was fun to run the Slash out there. I didn't here anyone complain about the Slash class so I guess its not so out of place. We were just out there having fun.

I really enjoyed seeing the Slashes out there!

It was a very contested battle always when that class ran.

I was there for the electic main

The guy that jumped the step up to double is azl00de on this site. It was tom on the times printout. He made the A main of 40+ so he was doing very well!!

It should be on youtube soon, check under the user gsadvanced.

if it was on the flyer, there would have been at least another 10-15 guys from phoenix that would have entered had they known.
