Default AE releasing the B5/T5 questions...

Being an avid tournament paintball player, I see a lot of trends in the paintball industry that I donít see in R/C. One of them being how the major companies release a new, updated version of a gun almost every season. I am just getting back into R/C and Iíve noticed that AE has had the B4/T4 out for quite some time. Is there a certain timeframe in which they release a new, updated car? Are they about due for a B5/T5? This has probably been talked about a lot, but Iím just wanting to ask myself. Thanks.

Such as the SC10?

Companies like Associated will usually only work on something new when something in the market shifts or another manufacturer steps up to challenge them with a chassis of their own. Case in point: we're starting to see accessories made specifically to adapt chassis that were designed in the NiMH era to better fit and protect the new LiPo batteries. The next step (if necessary) would be to make a new chassis designed to work with the light weight LiPo cells.

This is more of a reactive industry rather than proactive, running changes and new products come about as they're needed rather than something new every year.

The On-road industry in R/C tends to be more of the "new chassis every season" I agree with the earlier post that off-road is "reactive". When Losi released the XX-CR AE countered with the B3 it was a tough sell.

The B2 was well liked by AE guys and the switch to the B3 was tough for many (the change from the RC10 to the B2 wa overdue and well accepted).

People in off-road want to see a "major" improvement if they are buying a new chassis, so manufactures tend to market "new" versions of their existing kits until a breaktrough in chassis design is discovered that can be marketed.

(Just the observations of a 15 year hobbyist)

The B4/T4 is still the best in class. No one has been able to beat it on a regular basis. Till someone can, AE is not going to replace it.

if they win the worlds, then buy b4's in confidence b/c they wont be puttin out a new 1 any time soon after that.

the only reason the b4 is around at all is b/c the XXX came out and had the b3s #.

if u want new cars every yr, then seeing the touring car section above. xray would be glad to assist you in seeing their 'vision'.

Oh, I've got a FT B4, I love it. I used to race about 10 years ago. I ran an RC10 World's Car. Back then, that car was hot shit until the B2 came out. I got a B2 RIGHT when it released and everyone at the track was like "woooooaaaaahhh" lol...good times.

So how old school is that? My old RC10 World's Car with a Trinity Midnight stock motor, and an old school Tekin ESC. Bad ass stuff back then.
