Default Anyone race at Mike Hobby Hangar in TX???

I'm moving to D/FW, Texas in a couple weeks. I would love to bring my B4 and T4 down there do some indoor racing. Does anyone know what classes are popular there? How about tires. dirt, etc?

Thanks a lot for any help you can provide. My son, an AE team driver, will be racing a lot there this Summer too.

I don't normally get to race since I work on Saturdays, but I know the guys up there and it is an awesome place! I know last saturday they had 3 heats of stock (13.5) buggy, so that seems to be the big class now. There is a good group of mod 4wd's, and everyone is down for mod 2wd or mod truck if you say something. Stock (13.5) truck is big. They also have a spec slash class.

You will love the track. Tight and technical with a few fast straights. Great traction lately too.

I race at mikes every other weekend and here are a list of the normal classes:

Rookie Truck (usually buggy and truck, sometimes split up into rookie truck and rookie buggy)
Stock buggy (anywhere from 1 - 3 classes)
Stock Truck (anywhere from 1 to 2 classes)
Mod 4WD (not a lot of racers, usually 4 - 6 show up)
Slash (anywhere from 2 - 3 classes)
1/18 (this happens once a month or so)

Signups start at 10am and end around 11:30am and the fees are 15.00 for the first class and 10.00 for each additional class. No fee's for practicing during the week/weekend. Racing starts between 12 - 1pm and ends anywhere between 7 - 9pm depending on the classes. I have seen as many as 14 classes but there is usually around 12. The hobby shop is well supplied with T4/B4 parts.

You can visit the shops website at www.mikeshobbyshop.com . The website has a message board, virtual tour, realtime camera tracks, and some information.

Here are the tires I use for my T4/B4:

T4 Front:
Proline Edge M3 (nice and smooth on this track)
T4 Rear:
Jconcepts Double D's Green (my favorites after testing out way too many tires)

B4 Front:
Jconcepts Groovy Green (gave me lots of steering over the rounders at mikes)
B4 Rear:
Jconcepts Double D's Green

I've heard good things about this place. We've been planning on making the trip up there from Austin for those races.

You can also travel to Austin for weekly racing at N-Control RC. www.ncontrolrc.com

Sorry for the late reply everyone! Thank you for all of the great information on the track. I am leaving for D/FW in about 10 days and will be bringing some R/C stuff along.

See you at the track!

Some of us from OKC drive down there and race too. Its one of the nice facilities you can find. Also the first weekend of March is the annual Bigfoot offroad race in Enid, Oklahoma. There is a pretty good sized group of guys from Mikes that will be coming up to that.
