RC8T Electric kit?
I read a post on rcuniverse where a guy said that AE offers a FT RC8T kit geared towards electric guys. Meaning in the kit you get the electric conversion setup instead of the fuel tank, clutchbell, motor mount, etc. for the same price as the FT kit. Is this true? I am about to buy an RC8T to convert and this would be perfect for me.

I dont think that AE offers this, only the RC8E at the moment.

This is the conversion kit you want. I have been racing it for a few weeks now and its flat out awesome. I'm faster than I have ever been in truggy before. |
AE may have that in the future. Its not like it takes much to make a Limited edition electric RC8T like they did with the RC8.
that said, if you don't want to wait, or, you want to use longer batteries, I have to say that the RCM conversio for the RC8T is really something. It moves the battery weight over and gives you a nice trick chassis setup too. Also, you get the excellent customer service of RC Monster. Only thing I would recommend looking into is different chassis braces as I had issue with the stock RC8T chassis braces. |
My only issue with the Rc-moster setup is the radio tray. I really like the battery tray setup in the AE conversion kit. Is it possible to use the AE conversion radio tray on the RCM conversion?
|
I'll let you know as soon as I get my AE radio tray. I have one in the mail on its way to me right now. It was $10 so I figured i'd give it a try. The only reason why it might not fit is if it hits the vertical mud guard on the RC-Monster chassis. Other than that it should just drop right in.

Please let me know. Is there currently mounting holes for it on the RCM chassis or will you have to drill and countersink the holes for it? Please let me know when ASAP as I am having JDcrow send me an invoice for the AE kit. I will hold off until I hear back thanks.
Also looking at the RCM conversion on their site and where do you mount the ESC? |
I'm not sure cuz I dont have it yet, but I think it just uses the same mouting holes that the stock servo mount uses. The RCM chassis has th stock stering servo mount hole locations so the box should fit that I'm thinking. We'll see when it gets here.

At the recent toy fair there was announced an electric version, but it is not a Factory Team kit.

UPDATE: The AE Servo Tray/Rx Box doesnt fit in the RCM conversion. It hits against the vertical mud guard on the RCM conversion. The mud guard could probably be modified to work around the box, but its not a straight drop in. I got the box Saturday and tried to fit it sunday and it didnt fit. Even if it did fit...after getting it in my hands I really dont like it very much anyway. It puts the transponder mount right in front of the motor pinion and basically would make it impossible to get to the motor screws without taking the radio tray/servo mount out first.
I may try doing a little creative modification with it and see if I can come up with something I like when I get a chance next week or something. |
figured that would happen. assuming that the stock mud guards on the rc8t also won't fit the RCM chassis.
Oh well. If you don't get it to work Jhauz let me know what you want for it as I have an RC8 RCPD conversion that uses the stock chassis, and could use the receiver tray. |
Just got my RC8T in the mail at my office. Starting my conversion build tonight....

I just finished building a new RC8T kit w/AE conversion. RC-Monster makes sweet parts, I just opted for the factory kit. After seeing the RC8T shortcomings, it was built with M2C Racing rear hubs, and A, B, C, & D blocks; King Headz steering knuckles, chassis braces, and center diff plate. Jconcepts body, Upgrade wheel and wing skins for a little bling.

I would also consider the Tekno conversion it uses a clutch so it does not put as much stress on the front bearing of the motor when breaking since it uses mechanical breaking. I know some people who have not been around the setup think it sounds stupid, but I have the conversion on my Losi 8ight T and love it. It seems to make it a little more controllable than some of the other conversions I have seen. I have not driven any of the other conversions and do not mean to step on anyone's toes though.
Impakt RC has most of the above mentioned items on their website. http://www.impaktrc.com/index.php?cPath=238 |

Your gonna like that thruggy it handles awesome. |
Thank you. I can't wait to run it. I have not sold my nitro stuff yet, but I think I'm in love. It's kinda like falling in love with the Centerfold chick in Playboy. Even though I have not taken it for a test drive, I still have a funny feeling in my pants just from looking at it.

the rc8t brushless is a blast for sure, no doubt. Looks like AE did a good job of moving the tray as close as possible to the center relative to the spur from your pics.
|
What did you use to mount your ESC, velcro?
|
The AE conversion comes with double sided tape to mount the ESC, so I just used that. Seems to be solid.

Cool, thanks for the heads up on the zip tie idea!
