It doesn't matter which way they face.

Hello all, seems that DEX410v3 is backorder/sold out on Tower and Amain. Don't know when the stock are coming back or even if TD have anymore stocks. So is it "okay" to get the DEX410Rv3 because its still available at Tower ($149.97). I could get the "R" version and get some hop ups and still save abit. Need some advice on this. Thanks in advance. Cheers...

It is still an excellent deal IMO. You will definitely need the aluminum hinge pin holders, the bib bore shocks are not a must. If you want a wheeler, there is no more affordable option .

The Pivot ball is uniformly shaped. It's the Shock Cap itself that is different on either side. While you can force the pivot balls in through the small side, there is a larger side which is depicted by the ring impression on that side, and that;s the side the pivot ball should be inserted through. With the other side being smaller, it is much harder for the shock cap to pop off of the pivot ball and send the entire shock over the mounting hardware. It's a pretty nifty and slick design element that many don't realize exists.

I'm fairly new to the 410 and this was immediately apparent, but I closely inspect every little thing to learn all the intricacies that usually go unnoticed, and this is one of those and it shows someone had their thinking cap on during the design and engineering processes.

Reference my previous post above.

It does matter which way they face, sort of. I made extra sure the bleeder screws faced out for ease of use whilst at the same time ensuring the smaller opening for the pivot balls were towards the rear.

Thanks for the heads up. Just did a calculation on just the alu hinge pin and its gonna cost me almost to $80 but do you really need the whole set (FF/FR/RF/RR). Don't mind the big bore as i could get them later. How about the shock tower? Carbon fiber is stronger than plastic definitely. Cheers...

That's odd. Last week when I was looking to buy one, they were still listed at $349 I think. I emailed them and asked if they would price match tower. They emailed me back and said they had adjusted the price. I went back to the price and it was now $199. I wonder if they jacked it up because tower and amain sold out. I'd email them and ask for the $199.

3 bags into my V3 build and I have to say pretty IMPRESSED so far! The gear diffs are smooth! Went together like a glove except for the big e-clip (the first one was tricky at least)!

I'd recommend wait for more v3 back in stock at that price. Or just wait for the new version.
the R is worth the price tag, it's fine if you stick with only minimum necessary upgrades, you'll spend the discounted V3 money, ended up even without big bore shocks.
Or, if you "accidentally" got into the upgrade hole, you may end up with a V4 money for a V3.

Small dilemma, due to an unfortunate experience I ended up with an $89 credit from Tower.

I've had my eye on the Hitech 4X AC/DC charger for some time and this credit may be the best way for me to pick one up. But that means I'd still have to shell out a little over $100.

The other option is replacing my Tekin Gen2 6.5T with a Reedy Sonic 2 6.0T. Im considering this because Im running a good amount of ESC timing on the Tekin and still not impressed with its power (although the power is sufficient). I've read good things about the Sonic's and could order it with out of pocket cost of >$15.

If I like the Reedy better I could always sell the Tekin but I don't expect to get more than $65-75 for it.

Sounds silly, I know, but any thoughts?

can you guys chime in on piston/oil/spring setups for high bite clay? I am not a big fan of the 6 hole pistons so I made some 2-hole...trying to get the oil/spring/piston to balance

why wider?

putting saddle sideways?
for more rear weight distribution?
or to allow enough space for a vts slipper?
or to make some RWD like car like this?
