Hi JT -

Any chance you guys could add a $500 or more ~ $50.00 off coupon? I was bummed to learn that I couldn't use the $250 twice...

Thanks,

Try shimming the diff in the housing so there is very little backlash between the ring gear and bevel gear. Not too tight, and not too loose. Even then, it might happen again, until you replace the kit bearings with something of better quality. I lost 1 gear before properly shimming, and 1 more after that, until I replaced the kit bearings with Avid. No more ring gear problems, since.

Properly adjusting the slipper is key to reducing broken drive pins and also reduces the chance of breaking the ring gears.

This car requires a steep learning curve, so don't give up on it. Check and double check. Strip it down a few times and inspect everything. Learn what needs more attention, and what is bullet proof. It's not perfect, ...no car is, ...but it's damn close!
Good racing!
This isn't my first rodeo..

My diff was shimmed correctly. It started clicking on a straight, so I'm assuming that's when it came apart. The bearings are tight, so I have no idea why changing to another brand would do anything... The way the gear broke it looked like a bad batch of metal.

I'm not using anything crazy either, my slipper is set right and I'm running a tekin RS and a tekin 13.5 motor.

I'm just mad the hingepin holder is on backorder and I haven't heard a reply to my E-mail.

Sorry, Friend. Not trying to treat you poorly. Just trying to offer advise.
I did read on a forum (don't recall which one. oOple, maybe) about someone finding a ring gear that was molded poorly. It appeared to have small air bubbles or pockets in the metal where the teeth broke off.
Too much slack in a bearing will allow the bevel gear to push away from the ring gear, and slip, and could cause broken teeth. A lot of the Euro owners posted that the early DEX410 kit bearings were very low quality, and had to replace them. I blew up 5 or 6, I think. I've been at this since 1986, and have never had a kit with bearings this bad before.
Again, just offering advise, not slamming you in any way.

You can get ideas from some of the clay setups here:

Not sure if this has been mentioned before but, for those looking for a great Saddle Pack for their Durango Buggy-The Venom 30C 4200 is 23mm high and should fit nicely!

Looks close, except they don't make 4wd fronts in that model, and the bigshot doesn't have that tight cluster of lugs down the middle. I'm pretty sure they're not the holeshot 2.0 as those have more of a block, the Durango in the picture has more of a pin/stud.

Must be some super secret new rubber.

No worries

Working at a Hobbyshop local to HRP appears to have it's advantages. I have some new parts on the way for me. Team durango hasn't replied to my email so I called HRP and they took care of my issues.

Hopefully I can actually start getting a decent setup next week and get running it soon.
