The car has started to make a horrific noise. It sounds like the mesh is bad but I just replaced the spur and I know thats all good. If i hold the car off the ground it sounds pretty normal, but as soon as their is resistance on the ground, it just sounds nasty. Anyone have this experience and a remedy ? I've pulled the front Diff apart to see if its anything, but don't see any excess wear....

Toby, i had the same issue with mine. I rebuilt the diffs and re-shimmed them. the rango is nice and quiet now.

Probably RCHR.. (not sure how much actual racing I can do due to my schedule, but we will see.)

Thanks for the advice.

Yup, that's where I run during indoor season. Next time your there, look for the Durango in my Avatar. I will give you the setup, I am the only one still running a rango there.

Just got to start building my V3 today. Not very impressed at all... I had 2 screws that came with no threads at all. While mounting the front diff carrier what ever you want to call it. I noticed it had on both sides stress marks and cracks from the screws. and yes they are the correct length of screws that go into the car. But since they are cracking and showing stress marks i'm not sure how they will hold when I start racing it. I'm missing a screw or 2 and I have used some of the extras that come with the kit. I still have some work to do before it is completed but I was curious if anyone else is having or had issues with the building of these cars.

I'm not sure if it's just that I'm coming from Xray buggies and touring cars and we all know they fit like a glove... so I guess I could just be spoiled...

I just hope this isn't what to expect on down the road.

Thanks,
-DC-

All I can tell you is take some photos and contact HRP. They will take care of you. And that way it gets passed onto durango for future shipments!!

Sorry to hear that. A couple things I learned was:

Buy the Alum servo saver arm. Stock up on bearings. Pay CLOSE attention to how the gear diff and outdrive assembly is put together. Dont leave any extra wire loose. Buy the rubber boots for the outdrives and axles. LOCKTITE!!!

You didn't overtighten them by any chance? Also, did this happen to both of the diff carriers? I built up a 410 Spec and had some problems with the hinge pin balls fitting in the aluminum parts, but other than that no problems. I heard they have really good CS so contact them and I'm sure they will take care of you.

What part# by chance are you talking about? Odd about the screws but I'll pass it along to the team.

It would be nice to see pictures of the defective parts. I have never seen anything that wasn't quality from Durango.

If the DEX isn't up to par with your x-ray stuff may you should look at their wheeler. Oh wait...........................

Just remember it's not an on-road vehicle. There are different standards and things that are important in on-road don't mean shit in an off-road car.

Hey Guys,

Had a ring gear issue on my Dex. I shimmed it properly, however given the nature of rc cars and the type of material that is used, in this case: Sintered cast? I found that even if you shim the ring gear properly, you cannot shim properly with this kind of poor quality. Dont get me wrong, I LOVE this car, but I cant stress enough that you have to report issues, if its not reported, they cant fix them. These photos were taken on a brand new out of package ring gear. Both teeth were on the same gear and the bad teeth were mainly isolated on 1/4 of the gear. And HRP customer service is TOP!!

The standards is that things go together properly... like what xrays stuff does... from there touring cars to the 8th scale buggies... either way it should still go together properly.

Randy- Thanks for the help, heres the part number of what I'm talking about. 330003

I am getting ready to snap some pictures for you and maybe you can help me out...

Thanks again Randy, and others

long time no see APEX...

I'm pretty sure it's not over tightening them b/c the stress marks is the whole length of the screws.

Durango seems to use a high glass content plastic. Which in some aspects makes for great model building, but you have to be careful because heat will build up the first time you thread them especially. my thoughts
