Team Durango DEX410 4WD 1/10 Off-Road Buggy Thread

Where are you racing? Grip level.
If high bite, standard setup is fine.
If low to med bite, I would suggest making 6x 2.0mm holes in rear slipper pad only evenly spread. It will give you more front drive.
If you want more rear drive, for high grip then put the drilled pad in the front and the stock pad in the rear. Best to have a few different pads to try. 4 holes, 6 holes and 8 holes depending on how much bias you want.

I could have some serious fun with that!

I don't have my 2 way slipper yet but I sometimes run two different sized pads on my 210 for a different feel. I think this would also work even more effectively on the 2 way slipper. You could use a thicker pad on the front side than the rear….or vice vs…maybe…
Do you use the spur gear as a template for drilling?

Can someone remind me which spur gears fit without modification? I know a while back we talked about some of the aftermarkets not working….of course they seem hard to come by no matter what brand….

RW makes spurs that are a direct fit.
And I don't use a template for drilling. I just measure it up with a ruler and marker and off I go. Alternatively, you can you a belt punch, you know the ones that makes vent holes in your rubber tires. It works just as good as a drill.
The different brands of pads changes the bias of the v4 slipper a lot.
eg AE b4 slipper pad vs AE high torque.
Its like going 15k-20k in the center if placed in the rear or something depending on brand. Or if you place the thicker pad in the front, its like running really light center oil.
There are other aftermarket pads to try but keep in mind the differences of the pad in terms of grip can be a lot more than making some holes.
The holes 4 or 6 on a standard or AE pad is like going approx 2-3k lower or higher in the center diff, if that makes sense.

Thanks Dino! Where do you buy RW spurs? I found their site but it doesn't look like you can buy direct and amain doesn't have em…
I have to admit I have grown a little weary of searching for parts with Durango. Seems like I spend a lot of time searching….bleh. What else would I do when I can't sleep?!
What about this one? Has anyone tried it? RDRP...

PS, I hope to have my dual slipper real soon! Just ordered it tonight….along with the Tresrey rear weight (under the diff) and their Titanium hinge pins.
Now I need the Durango spring set and some AKA Typos and I'll be set!
Dino are you still running TLR Low Frequency springs? Durango cups?

ps…@Dino: I don't like to punch holes in my tires. Then I get tire sauce and water into my tire and foams. I punch holes in the wheels for air of course...

Actually I for most cases the stock springs on the V4 or v3 is fine 80% of the time. Maybe going one step lighter (Dark Green) for more low speed steering or one step darker (Dark Red) on high grip tracks. Those would be the only other springs you really need and maybe Light Red in the rear if you have a high grip track or carpet. Sometimes, I run the Avid Purple Fronts and Avid White or Yellow in the Rear, if the track is extremely bumpy and dry.
As for the TLR LF springs, I mainly use them on the 2wd 210 on low bite and bumpy conditions. If the track grip goes up from watering, I go back to the Durango Springs which have a higher rate (Dark Green/Black or Black/Black).
I don't use TLR LF springs on my 4WD, as the front spring rate isn't strong enough, and you will have the collar all the way to the bottom just to try to achieve ride height. As for the rear, I prefer stock spring or Avid instead on the 410 as It just seems to feel better for me then the TLR on the back.
These are my experiences.. Most of our tracks are low to medium and pretty bumpy. Basically borderline blown out.
Maybe on trophy races, the grip stays more consistent at a med grip level.

So I run on carpet and we have some pretty large jumps. My car is bottoming out of the lips and it's scratching my chassis really bad. I want to go to a stiffer spring rate but don't know which ones to get. I don't want to buy$60 in springs to find one set I like. Can anyone dive me advice on which front spring will give me ballance with the rear dark blue. I'm using the fredswain way to balance FYI. Thanks

Maybe raising the ride height a few mm might help.

As for your oil weights and pistons. What are you running?
I think Hupo was running 3x1.5 with 32wt in the rear at the EOS race.
Actually you may find that stiffening the rear slightly more will make the car easier to drive on carpet making the rear end more stable.
