the 1258 is my go to servo in anything 1/10. Works great in the 410. I'll also be using odonnel o'lube on the drivetrain, same as sulivan dry ice, track power also makes a krytech lube (goes on liquid and evaporates to a film, works great) A seperate BEC shouldn't be needed on a 1/10 buggy, but maybe behind the servo?

Has anyone tried 7.4 volts on the TG1258? I noticed the default on the Castle bec is 5.1 volts, that dog won't hunt. I already have the Castle link, so it will be boosted. Any thoughts on where to get one for a good price? and are their smaller ones available? I just ordered the Castle at my local hobby shop and found out it is programmable in 1/10ths, awesome! So if I want 6.4 volts , no problem.

If I put my futaba receiver on its side there should be enough room between the esc and the servo or the esc and receiver. BTW who runs a shorty in the 410. I measured my tray and it looks like its just short of 95mm. So I don't think it will fit.

What esc are you running? Most esc's have 6 volt bec. The 1258 is plenty fast on 6v (.08). No need for an external bec.

so i was looking at bmans with the center diff and i cant help but think why i woud not be able to just run a shorty pack sideways and drill the center diff in. anyone ever concider this?

are you temp gauging your motor/ESC/Battery after your runs? If you don't have a temp gauge I suggest getting one. They are typically inexpensive and take a lot of guess work out of it. My motors get warm and many racers get HOT. I tend to drive smoother than some it seems and also I've found my speed passion ESCs run motors cooler than my Novak did. I have not tested other speedos' myself but I do temp the other racers cars and ESCs all the time.

I've also seen a few guys run their 410's with gearing too low(17/18) and this causes major wheelspin and also the motor runs very hot.

I really like the Ryobi temp gauge. 30 bucks or so. It has a 1 or 2 year warranty.

Of course I have a temp gun, that's how I know it's getting hot. I do run 18t pinion I guess I could be under geared though,but i dont have a provlem with it getting hot. I mainly run on small indoor track that's why I went with 18t figured it would be better since its so small. I haven't ran my DEX in awhile so next time I bust that thing out I'll mess with the gearing to see if it makes a difference.

After 8 mins motor is usually about 145-155. Esc is no problem it never gets above about 125.

That is a very normal temp to have after 8 min. The is no need worry about that temp.

Yeah I know that's good. If you read back I was saying if I run anything bigger than an 18t pinion I would have problems with it getting hot. Someone commented that 18t was too low. I actually never tried anything bigger than an 18t with my 6.5 but with my 7.5 it would get too hot with anything bigger. So when I threw my 6.5 with the 18t I just left it and haven't tried anything bigger because its fine.

I was temping a bit high and removed the plastic in front of the motor and it cooled down to 140*F. I am having glitching problems running a Spektrum radio and a Savox servo, so I have already ordered the BEC. I found some room beside my ESC, on the motor side. I had a blast tonight in my first race. These are so smooth around the track and make me look way better than I am. The glitching was very obvious. I noticed the wings don't last very long. Were can I get a pack of them for a good price???
