Mamba/Neu 2200kv motor on 4S or Medusa 1300kv on 6S?
I've test driven the Medusa 1300kv on 6S and was happy enough to purchase this system the other day. Not sure yet if the MMM needs a BEC to not fry the servos and everything else.
I'm having second thoughts about this rig after seeing a MMM/GreenMamba2200kv system and it straight up flies on just 4S. But I wonder about this systems efficiency, especially in the heat of the summer coming.
So my question is....
What is a good 8th scale brushless system I guess. I thought I had it figured out, but a little confused now after seeing other systems. It's going in an RC8.

You need to run your MMM/Medusa 1300 system for a while and see how you like it... what kind of runtime you get, etc. Should be a fine setup.
There are plenty of good setups out there so don't worry about what the next guy has.
If you find reason to think yours isn't good for you, then try something else.

I helped a freind convert a Losi 2.0 with the MMM/2200 combo & got to drive it last week. He was running 5S. We put timing on lowest & PC on 60%. On a high bite covered technical track he was getting right around 30 minutes of "hard practice" with a 14 tooth pinion & Pro-tech 3800 mAh. I was very surprised at the run time. I had told him when we were building it not to expect much more that 20 min. Never even got hot at all but that's on a 50 deg F day.

Thanks for your input. Do I need a BEC on 6S?
The reason I am asking NOW is cuz I can actually return this stuff for full refund still. I just started hesitating after it was in the mail. Probably right though. I'm thinking this is a good system.
I'm also a titch worried about top end with the 1300kv motor too. Can I just gear the crap out of it till it hits my top speed? I was thinking 15/46 in the RC8. Sound about right?

It will be plenty fast... just a matter of finding the gear you like. I think in the RC8 you might have to gear up a bit more than 15/46... probably will be looking at 16-18 pinion range.
I think AE has plastic gears now... see if there is a 44 or 45 spur. That would allow a smaller pinion to get the motor in tighter.

If you already have the MedUsa, just keep it. Higher voltage and lower KV is generally better but there's nothing wrong with the CC motors.

Mark,
Look at the bottom of JDs' post and look at the pic of the parts list from the conversion kit.

My car not fast enough for you mark?
The calibration on the MMM was off, i just noticed it today. It wasnt getting full throttle. Must have happened when I switched from spektrum to fm. The green light never went full, just fast blinking. I was geared at 14/44 btw. Its noticeable faster on the 15 if you desire. As well I run 40% punch control at SRS, 10 or even 20 is much snappier. however the 40% Helps the lap times alot.
The Castle neus look pretty sweet, might get one when then release a version below 1500 kv.
