Speed Passion 1/8 scale brushless

Anybody tried the speedo and motor. What did u think?

cpatel529 01-21-2009 11:31 AM

Ordered mine today. Got the 1/8 Silver Arrow and the 7.5 motor. Gonna be putting it in my XB808.

Fantastic price and I wouldnt expect anything less than the Speed Passion quality that they have in their 1/10 electronics.

Wont be able to provide more details till I receive everything and mount it up next week.

I do not have one yet but I have seen the motors in action and they very Linear and fast too.
I currently have a mamba monster and as soon as i can I will be switching to Speed Passion:D
Not to mention, The programming box that comes with them is awesome!

Anyone know the KV rating of each motor? Something else to consider.

Click on the Apparel section of the http://www.speedpassion.net website and find the silver arrow motor manual.

3.5T 5840KV
4.5T 4600KV
5.5T 3880KV
6.5T 3190KV
7.5T 2570KV
8.5T 2070KV

Just remember the ESC is 4S battery compatible only when thinking about which motor to choose.

Thopper 01-21-2009 12:06 PM

How much is the esc? I cannot get there site to work.

Stormer has the ESC in stock for $169.

It looks like I see a sensor connection on the back of the motor.
Is this a Sensored system?

Is the 7.5T overkill for a 1/8 4wd buggy with 4s and 5000 mA battery pack?

I think with the castle neu and medusa motors everyone runs somewhere between 2100-2800kv.
Not sure how the speedpassions compare?
I would think 7.5 or 8.5 would be good.
maybe even a 6.5 if they are similar to a novak Hv

If gearing ends up being anything like the current sensorless setups that are being used, you will probably want at most the 7.5 version, depending on what vehicle this is going into.

What does the extra plug options on the side of what I think is the adjustment device that are labled 5-6V opto?

I do like the fact that the ESC appears to use a USB port similar to the mamba max.

How much are the combo kits going for and where are you getting them at?

I believe this is the programming card. The 5-6V port is probably for an alternate power supply.

this ESC only supports up to 4S. why not 5S and 6S. Majority of folks i know run 5S and over. this is gonna be a really big limitation for this ESC. Tekin has done their homework and support up to 6S. with Tekin and Castle Creation, competition is tight. you gotta do better than this to do really well for 1/8th scale electric...

razzor 01-24-2009 12:41 AM

There is a higher spec esc coming that will do 6s.
Was told last it wil be ready in Feb.
