Default tires and gearing

i got a slash with a sidewinder 5700,venom 8.4 7 cell,15/90 gearing. motor temp and run times were great until i swapped out my rear pro-line switch tires for some pro-line gladiator 2 tires.my track has lots of bite, after the tires, the motor gets VERY HOT,CANT TOUCH IT FOR 3 SECONDS,and this happens in 5 min. the battery has 80% life left also.this is just normal driving to.my question is ''are those tires and that pinion loading up my motor'' is a 13t pinion too small or should i buy 14,13,12,11, just to try it out/ THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
