Default Losi Xcelorin cells

Sorry if this is a stupid question but does anyone know how many Nimh cells you can use on a 1/10th 6.5T Xcelorin ESC and motor?

Per Losi's website on the sensored 6.5.

Input voltage: NiMH 4-12 Cells or 4.8-14.4V; LiPo 2-3 Cells or 7.4-11.1V

IMO that seems really high voltage. I mean you could run 2 packs at the same time!
