Default Yokomo USA's webstore closing? Wha?!??

"Notice to our Web Shopping Customers and Yokomo Users

We are sorry to have to announce that Yokomo USA has decided to stop Web shopping services as of December 31, 2008.

Yokomo USA has been supporting Yokomo customers in the USA for over ten (10) years, and with web shopping for more than three (3) years, and will now turn over sales and support to a worthy company.

We have directly contacted customers with pending back ordered parts. However, if you feel you didn't get contacted, please contact us right away, as we want to conclude back orders by January 9th, 2009.

We will continue for a limited time to supply tech and product support. This support will be primarily by e-mail. If urgent support is needed then don't hesitate to call us directly.

Since 1997 we have had the pleasure of providing Yokomo products here in the USA, and have come to know and interact was many types of drivers of Yokomo RC cars. We feel truly thankful and privileged for having had that opportunity.

We hope that you will be able to continue to get Yokomo products from retail shops in the USA. Upon request, we'll provide you with names of retail shops which handle Yokomo products.

Thank you, for all your support of Yokomo USA, over the past decade."

They said that they are turning it over to a "worthy company". What does that mean? Is there a new US distributor?

Could be good, could be bad. The unknown really sucks right now though. There are 6 of the BX's at our local track now (More than any other car). I'd hate to see parts support to go from bad to impossible.

I ran the BX for a while, it is a great car. I'd hate to see people stop running it because of a lack of parts support. Yoke USA has always been good for guys who can not get parts through their local tracks.

I hope it all works out for you guys.

They are probably just realizing that they are not cut out for managing a retail website. They are a niche RC car company. That's what they do best. It's probably a good thing to hand it over to a company that specializes in that. Heck, take Kyosho for example, they have a webstore and it sucks. Tons of parts, but the interface and overall experience using it is horrible.

Great for him/them!

So what now? Where are we supposed to get parts from?

Your comments make it sound like Yokomo USA is closing. The above info only speaks of the web store.

I've been calling a few times, unfortunately, with no answers. Is there any secret phone number? Anyone can help?

Thanks.

I still wish I knew if they were closing down all US operations or if they are just stopping their webstore.

Found this on another forum:

"Got some info from a Yokomo Supplier in Japan.... they say YES YOKOMO USA is NO MORE. Looks like I need to dump all my Yokomo products since they will no longer support them here stateside. I even asked Ultimate Hobbies if they still can get parts and kits and they said they no longer will be involved with Yokomo products. OUCH."

True?
