So i have the original HPI Nitro RS4 MT. It's starting to crap out and i was thinking about converting it to electric. What do you guys think of this idea, any good? It weighs a little more than a Traxxas Slash, and has a 52T spur gear with 12T pinion gear. I can put the ESC where the gas tank used to be. The servo/receiver will be glued onto the chassis with super glue or servo tape. The motor i'll have to somehow find/make a mount. And finally for the battery i'm thinking about attaching it somewhere on the chassis with industrial strength velcro.

Go for it. If you've got a way to mount a brushless in the chassis then you're set. You won't regret it, a nice brushless setup put out some serious power.

Nice, so would this work with a brushed system? And what about the gearing? I think 52 spur / 12 pinion would be a bit too low of a gear ratio for electric no?

brushed systems dont have the torque that brushless can provide

I can't speak the gearing for that particular car, just run the same gearing you are now, and then change according to your needs. Pinion/spur gears are cheap. Go brushless, I wouldn't convert any vehicle to a brushed system, would be a waste of time.

Wow thanks for that link! Some of that guy's ideas are actually similar to what i had in mind.
