Default good stock brushless setup

hey all,
i just got back into r/c and pulled my xxxt out of storage, i race stock but my old orion cores and epic monsters are getting smoked by brushless. What is a good brushless motor and speed control to buy?

if you are looking for great and cheap go for the novak gtb remanufactured and the reman 17.5. can't go wrong with this thing, and you can gear that motor to the moon

Maybe it's not the motor - what battery are you using? If you are trying to keep up with old 3000 mAh stick packs, that's not going to cut it. New 4500 mAh packs or better may help a lot. Motor too, but a well setup brushed motor can keep up with good batteries and the right gearing.
