Tekin RX8 1/8 Scale Brushless ESC Thread

I'm running the gen2 RX-8 and the 4600 pro 4 motor in my tekno superlite. This is the same combo I used in the 410SCT before the conversion. I had issues with the esc overheating and was wondering if anyone has esc setting recommendations for this combo. I started with a 14t pinion and moved to a 13 along with cutting a large air vent in my front windshield. The 14 thermalled after 4 min but I was able to get the 13t through the 6 min final (after enlarging the air vents) but still temped at 180. I have not played with any settings on the esc yet. It is running the stock settings from the factory.
I appreciate any suggestions. I do have the hotwire so I can change settings, just haven't run it enough to need to and the stock settings worked great on the 410SCT.

You may want to check your current limit. I usually set mine to 75%

Hooked up the hotwire today and changed a couple little things. Installed the fan and turned it on full time. Took the 3 degrees of timing to minimum. changed the current limiter to 75 from 80. Went outside and ran for 5 minutes hard and brought it in. Motor temped at 139 and the esc temped at 98! This is much more along the lines I thought it should be at. It was 22 degrees outside, but I think this is a big improvement. Thanks for the help!

Well I had my first RX8 go out on me. I'm getting the 1/2 & 7/8 constant blinking light problem.
I've tried 2 different motors, 2 different batteries, tryed flashing firm ware from new-old back to new. Only way I could get it to work was to desolder the motor, turn on the RX8. Re-calibrate and then solder the motor back to the ESC while it was still turned on. This was the only way for me to get the RX8 to control the motor and not error out. Even with doing this, the RX8 would cog with no load on the motor.

My guess is you've calibrated but worth updating to the newest firmware and calibrate. Basics of zeroing out the dual rate and setting end point to 100 or max, no ALB or expo before calibration.
