I took that set up and put it in a Losi 4x4 (slow now) Had a problem with the mmp and I just put in a new RX8 and what a difference! very nice unit. I run at HRH and I was wondering for that track set up what would you run for set up on the RX8 and a Ballistic 4.5 I'm going to use a 13/14 pinion. (I know....its not a Tekin) in due time
That sounds like a good place to start. Use the same esc settings and see how it runs...welcome to the winning side

I tested the motor in another ESC. The motor works fine. I re-soldered all the connections. The RX8 is still giving 1/2 & 6/7.

By the way, when this happened I was 4 packs in on the day.

I'll be sending it in I guess. Out of warranty...Chit!!

Blinking Lights:

Hi guys. First time in this forum.

I have bench tested my RC8be twice and it was fine. Now, the weather is finally nice and I'm looking to do a street test. I plugged my REEDY pack in (first time ever this pack has been plugged in) and all of the ESC's lights are blinking and there is no throttle / servo response.

Sigh, what wrong

Have you tried re-calibrating it to your radio?

hi randy

im sure you seen my post before about my RX8 going up in smoke. where im at a loss is why. I wired up my esc with 14gauge wire (possible problem), put plenty of servo tape under the esc for padding and made a series connector for it. Took it out on the road for testing and the car ran fine.

yesterday i went to AMS raceway to try out the car on the track. I balanced charged my lipos (turnigy 5.0 5000mAH 20C) and put my car on the track. (im running a losi 8ight e 2.0)

i was geared at 14/44, running the 212 software on timming profile #1, current limit set to 70%. put the car on the track and did some laps. came in checked esc and motor temps, all under 90 degrees (F). i came off a small jump, turned and hit the brakes (brake strength set at 60%) and there goes the esc.... why?? im not knocking the esc because it must of been something i did.

the previous owner of this esc used plumming solder on the tabs, could this be the reason for the esc frying, the small wire, gearing, esc settings?

i bought another RX8 that day and it ran fine with all the same settings except i used the 12gauge wire that comes with the esc.

any ideas??

Default Gearing question

I'm running a Losi 8 2.0 E and the ESC is running hot, 160-180F. I"m running the T8 truggy 2250kv, 16/45 gearing. I was running indoors and had the EPA turned down from 150% to 85%. Am I just way under geared?

Make sure it's plugged into the receiver.

(turnigy 5.0 5000mAH 20C) 20c is not recommended to be honest. They will not be able to deliver enough power for the system under load. 30c minimum is best. (im running a losi 8ight e 2.0)

My thoughts in red above. Also I'm curious as to what motor you're using? Look at the bottom of the esc, are there melted areas on the bottom near one side of the case?

I don't like the 20c batteries, 14 awg wire, plumbers solder, etc.

No, you're overgeared for an indoor track. Drop to a 14T. You don't state 4s so I'm assuming at this point....

i was running a T8 1900kv buggy motor, my bad. and the batteries say 20-30C rating. the esc does not look melted on the bottom, but has alot of melting near where the fan plugs in.

Thanks Randy. Wouldn't the motor be hot also if I was overgeared? I am running a 4s.

Default Truggy Gearing Suggestions

Any gearing suggestions for a Losi 8T 2.0. I'm running the RX8/2250 truggy motor with a 45 spur, 4s lipo. 15 tooth pinion is what Losi suggests. Any thoughts?
The track is fairly open, long straight, big jumps, low to med traction.
