19t will be good if you don't like alot of bottom end. 18t would prolly be ideal on a smaller track tho.

I run 20t on big tracks with the 2050.

Less talk about gearing more talk about BREAKING NEWS OF great new things.... okay so what are they?? lol

I had 4s setup, hated run time, 6s set up burnt up a speedo or two, my 3 friends are doing 5s so i swapped out to 1700kv 5s also. Waiting for the batteries to arrive.

I know the 1700 does not react as well to timing as the 1900 and 1400kv.. WHOOSH did the 1400 wake up with not a whole lot.

What are others with the 1700s doing for timing??

Also if i decide to do a race that runs roar rules think a 1700 with the right timing and gearing would do okay on 4s?

How did the 1400KV feel on 6S??? Where the runtimes as good as people say?

Likes..

runtime-
I didnt get to run much but the two times i figured it i would have gotten 21 minutes if i ran to LVC (bad gearing) and the second time i would have gotten 24 minutes. These were 3300 packs and i drive fairly conservative.

Smoother?- maybe it was in my head but it seemed to be smoother then my 2050 setup i had on 4s.

timing- now i hadnt played with timing much but someone said on here to not go over 20* or something on the 1400kv. I put it at 15 and man it woke up on the front stretch =)

Dislikes-
It seemed to have slightly less punch but this was because it was a SUPER SUPER short run up on a clay tacky track. BUT.... I didnt like to triple that section anyways because it was slower. The 4s 2200 guys could be at a stand still like 3 foot away and triple it i came up a couple feet short. BUT for racing and for most surfaces i do not see this as an issue in anyway shape or form. Overall like i said it may be in my head but i felt i was faster with this setup cause it was smoother. This could vary for many reasons.

And my second dislike is hard to put a finger on. I burnt up 2 RX8's but even though people argue back and forth it could have been for a number of reasons. My cheap packs may have not held a good discharge rate and messed them up, or the esc's at that high of voltage and the combination of bad discharge rates on the batteries or something may have cooked them too. How about we just let that issue be. Tekin fixed the ESC's free of charge which is why my VE8, my crawler, and my (10th scales something arather lol) will all have tekin systems.

I can't wait to try the 5s though...

I think that's way overgeared on a losi 8. May be fine for the Ve8, but they probably have different internal ratio's. I run a 15T on my Losi 8 2.0 with 4S and a 2050 tekin. More speed than I can imagine using and I'm on a pretty big track.

For me it's the smoothest set-up I've felt. I was burning between 950 too 980 mAh in a 5 minute heat with a 2 minute warmup At NorCal hobbies (good size track). The only down side is the size & shape of the batterys, some are hard to fit under the body. I stuck with Thunder power 6S/2600mAh/25c for about a year & they worked great on the 1400 (& a Neu 1700 before the Tekins came out) & kept my car lite. With 6S you can actually run a bit lower C rating safely. Just as an added note, I recently switched to 5S with the 1400 and was very surprised at how good that works, just bumped the timing up to 20. Also 6s/1400 is the coolest runnig setup I've had. Ran the NorCal challange last June in 2 days 100+ deg heat with no fans & no issues.

A little Tekin appreciation!

For those wondering why I have 2 shocks with yellow boots and 2 with red I just wanted to know which one looked more appropriate.

I concur, yellow. It will also help you to keep an eye on the buggy in far distances and dark areas of the track.

Red for sure (but you need red plugs for the hubs). That buggy looks great. Good job.

You made me second guess myself...

as a whole over all look i like the red....

at first the yellow then i realized it separated the car. The red blends it all, the yellow looks like wheel and suspension become one...
