@Lonestar You're lower geared than I'd be on that track. 180f isn't "dreaded" at all actually. I don't worry until I'm over 200f after a rull run. even then if it's 202 it's not a big deal.

Sandy tracks like the one in that pic has lots of wheel spin and being geared too low will make more heat than being over geared by a tooth. Gear up to a 16T and try it.

Hi Tekin,

I have a RX8/Pro4 in a Losi SCTE. I'm having a problem with the radio/ESC calibration. After the initial day of calibrating and racing the truck; which everything worked great. Then this past weekend, the radio/ESC kept losing the throttle calibration. Meaning every time I unplugged the battery and installed a full charged battery, the ESC would not have any throttle response. The steering was working and the LED's on the ESC would move in relation to the throttle input on the radio. Is this an ESC problem? The weird thing was after 5 of sitting with both the ESC and radio on, the ESC would chime and then everything was working again until I unplugged the battery.

Thanks

Try widening up your NW setting. If it's too narrow and your radio is not getting back to the exact neutral it was calibrated to it won't arm.

many thanks. one thing for sure, the performance delta between both motors is more than obvious... will try 16 tomorrow evening and report back.

any "optimal efficiency timing" advice for us?

thanks again

Paul

I believe Randy means the Neutral Width setting on the esc. You can adjust it right on the rx8 by selecting 'NW' and increasing it until it regularly arms on power up. If anything, max it out to guarantee it will work and then slowly reduce the NW.

Got a weird question my rx8 goes wide open when I turn the wheels and shuts off when I hit the throttle. Does anyone have a clue why. I changed the receiver and tries a diff radio????? Only thing I can think of is I have a bad speed control.

Have you tried re-programming the ESC to your radio ?

I have a wlc100 weller 40 watt solder station. Will I be able to solder the wires to the posts on the esc safely with this and flux and 60:40 rosin core solder?

The esc will only do what it's told to by the receiver. So to test this unplug the Rx8 from the receiver, power up, all led's should be on and flashing. Are they?

Next "test" is to swap channels in your receiver. Put the Rx8 into CH1 and use your steering to test it. Result?

As long as you have a large tip on it, yes. No need for flux if you're using Rosin core solder.

I have a decent size chisel tip. Does it matter the diameter of the solder. I think if I get 63/37 it comes in .005"
