Is there any advantages in reversing the motor direction through the Hotwire vs simply reversing the 2nd channel on the rx/tx?

you wont get the same range of motion on the throttle if you reverse the channel on your remote. you'll have more brake than you do forward. then, when you hit the brake, it will go straight into reverse rather than braking.

I thought when you recalibrate the rx8 after switching the channel it fixed that issue? Could be wrong but I'll reverse on the Kotwire next time I plug in an see if I can notice any difference

I ran my RX8/T8 combo in a Caster buggy. The motor faces the rear of the buggy, so you had to reverse the rotation. I noticed a HUGE difference when I made the change through hotwire versus through the radio.
You should never just simply reverse the throttle channel on your radio to get forward on your car. Most radios are not 50/50 inputs to the esc. Most are 70/30. In other words 70% of "throw" or travel is for throttle, 30 is for reverse/brake.
We put reverse motor rotation in the hotwire and in the standard Motor type selection for this very reason.

got a question..
in a Losi Scte can i use 14 gauge wire for my battery connections? And if i have 12 guage for my positive lead and 14 for my negative lead. would that be an issue
motor being used is a Trinity 4pole 4800kv

On my 4pks I had to reverse the throttle as it would not sync at all. Once I reversed the throttle all was well.
Should I have not reversed it? Just want to make sure it's set right.

However, I have my throttle/brake at 50/50 on my 4PKS, so that shouldn't affect it any then, I'd assume..?
Ok, so... I've been out of rc cars for about fifteen years and am know looking to get back in. Gonna go Ve8 and am now trying to decide on a esc and motor. I've been scrolling through this incrediblely long thread and still not sure...what is the current consensus on the RX8 and the MMM.Which one should I get, has Tekin resolved there issues? Also, what about the motos, T8(rotor issue resolved?) or castle? I'm thinking I want to run a 1900 -2050kv T8 with the Tekin for my track. I know these quetions have been asked before so thanks for reading, just realy want to know if Tekin's reliability has improved.
Thank you,

When setting the current limiter using QuickTune (= with 'mode' and 'inc' buttons), how does the scale 1-13 correspond to percentage values shown on Hotwire?

140-150ish Fahrenheit.
If you reverse it before you calibrate the rx8 to the radio, that is fine. What Randy is advising no one to do ever is to calibrate the radio to the rx8 and then reverse the throttle on the radio to get the car to go forward.
Read answer above.
Technically it would work and get you going, but 14 gauge could be pushing it for how much current that motor will draw and depending on how you drive it. You should try to find some more 12 gauge if possible.
1 led equals 0 and 13 (just led 7) equals 100 or no current limiting (100% power). Each step in between is about 8%.
The rotor issues have been non existent for a couple years and the esc's are rock solid with the 3 hole case. For racing, the rx8 is as good as it gets for 8th scale and 4wd sct.

No that's fine. You did that for calibration. I've seen others calibrate in normal direction than flip the switch to run the car.

So if I reverse the channel and then recalibrate the rx8 it should be fine as the 70/30 throw would then be accurate. That is what I did and it seems good but I'll reverse the motor direction with the hotwire next time.
