My 2 cents, don't go over board and make it something stupid like 3800 Sport packs. I'm in a long back and forth on my local tracks forum.

Before I found out about their track I bought some 4600 for bashing with my son, no way I'm buying more lower qualtity packs just to race with them.

Read the tread, lots of good info.

Few other things, the shock caps, if you're bashing with the Slash during the week, your bound to pop some shock caps, why force people to get more plastic ones vs the Alum for only $2 more.

I think any 6 cell or 2 cell LiPo should be allowed. Alot of people run this as a 2nd class and makes it easier to just use your current batteries.....

exactly, i just raced in the turkey shootout here at real/rc fastlane in blue springs, mo. i won using 4600nimh saddle packs out of my 4wd. i've ran both lipo's and nimh. there doesn't seem to be an advantage other than the weight difference. we have a 90 ounce weight limit on the slash so if you run lipo's you have to add weight and it takes away the advantage. the full rules are listed on heartland r/c if you wanted to take a look and see if you can use any of there info. they try to keep them as stock and cheap as possible.

I race and only have lipos, but there is another track I race at that is completely againest lipo for other tracks, and they wonder why not many people are racing there.

Sub-C's= Heavier, may help traction, may hurt making some of the jumps.

Lipo= Lighter, may not help with rear traction, may alloow you to clear the bigger jumps.

Lipo is undeniably the path for the future. Sub-C's will become harder and harder to come by over the next few years as every class is adopting Lipos, Offroad, Onroad, even Oval. Our new SMC 4100 24C packs sell for around $60-$65 and are very powerful and seem to run competitively in this class.

Since you are the one setting the rules, please keep it as close to stock as possible. Mainly, keeping it a FUN, newcomer friendly class.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but does a 6-cell sidexside NiMh battery pack fit in the Slash. I bought a couple of Slashes for the kids for X-mas and want to make sure my existing packs fit. They are not in the "stick" configuration but assembled side to side. Thanks.
