Default Castle Creation's 1/8 Mamba Monster & Brushless Motors. Thoughts Opinions Suggestions

I am putting together a losi 8ight buggy and have not decided on a motor or esc yet. I was looking at Losi and Neu but with the V3 mmm and the motor combo. The castle creations Mamba Monster Max looks like a nice setup.
I have not made a decision on 4s or 6s at the moment.
But the 2200kv and 2650kv ratings seam to be off when they are saying that the 2200 is for 6s and the 2650 is for 4s. I would think the 2200kv on 4s would be similar the the Neu 1512 2D(2550kv) and 1512 2.5D(2050kv) which are very popular in 1/8 buggy on 4s.
Please inform me if I am wrong.
Thanks for the info
Tony

Both of those will be good in a buggy, and I would not run more than 4s with either.

I am leaning towards 6s for less heat.
Would you want something more like a 1400-1800kv motor for 6s?

The 2200 and 2650 versions are basically the same motor, only the the 2200 is longer than the 2650, which is the reason for the lower kv. The 2200 will handle 6s better however, not to mention that the power will also be insane on that voltage. A good racing motor on 6s would be the Neu 1512 2Y. It's about 1400kv.

From experience, save on your batteries and go 4S. I have the Castle Monster motor with the 2200KV motor. at 4S it is so fast you wouldn't want it to go any faster. We tested on a big track and ran it as hard as we could and it still lasted 25 minutes with 2 MaxAmps 6000 packs, and I could lay my hand on the motor with no problems. It felt hot but no hotter than your average 10th scale electric. The batteries were barely warm.

On a side note, the breaks never faded. The castle system is truely an awesome combo.

I just got my 2200KV Monster system yesterday. This ones going in my revo project. I'm going to wait for the 2650 and put that in my Fusion EX-1.

Default MMM in Kyosho GT2

I'm considering this setup for my Kyosho Inferno GT2. Being onroad, any suggestions for kv, and 4s or 6s? Which conversion kit?

I would see what kind of room you have if you can run the 2200 on 4S. If you can't get the longer can in go 4S on the 2650.

If your just racing up and down the street go with the 2200 and 6S and hold on.

I'm running a 4S setup in my Caster EX1, I am just running 2 2S 6000 packs. It's cool because I can run them in my 10th scale stuff, just make sure to keep the same cycles on both packs.

really? i didn't know that that # of cycles on a lipo would effect the overall power of the lipo.
Or are you thinking internal resistance would brake down and you would suck one dry before the other?
Don't know if this happens with lipos?
I know it does with Nimh.
more info Please on your reasoning?
Just courious
Thanks

It has a big affect on packs in a dual set-up. The thing is that a Li-Po's discharge changes as the pack ages. Taking a new pack and running it with an older packs will just not perform nor will a pack with say 10 cycles to one with 50. That's what's nice about the Hyperion DUO charger for these dual pack rigs. You can charge the two packs in "SYNC" mode which charges and balances them as if they were one pack. So two 7.4 packs would be charged and balanced as if they were one 4S pack.

Dave is totally right. save your Battery expenses and go with 4 cell. it may also end up being a standard in the future. I'm not saying that 6 cell won't, it's just that more people are running 4 cell.

and he's also got it right when he says that Castle has the right stuff with the best customer support I've ever experienced. that's why I chose to run their stuff exclusively.
