What do you use for removing double sided tape residue?

I usually use goo-gone, but wonder if anyone has something that works better....

Motorspray + flathead.

WD-40 let it sit and scrape it off.
I use ShoeGoo to hold everything in my cars. It is super strong and when removed leaves no residue.

Check the hardware store for "Ooops! - multi-purpose remover" Works similar to WD-40 (let soak, then remove tape and re-apply to clean) but is in a drip-applicator and not spray.

I use mineral spirits.....

+1 for WD40  let it soak a bit

gndprx 12-02-2008 07:40 AM

Just make sure and wipe the area down with rubbing alcohol or similar after to get the residue from the wd40 off...nothing will stick again otherwise ;)

I guess I like the goo gone, it's just a pain to use as it seems wasteful with such a large opening on the container onto a paper towel or such....

sneek into your wifes bathroom and get their bottle of finger nail polish remover. Works great, been using that for 20years. Seems to be plastic safe as well.

i.e. Acetone since that's typically the major chemical in nail polish remover. Just be careful if you are using this on CF as it will eat right through the shine.

i use white spirits on mine, removes all stickyness and drys to leave it fine for resticking. if you are worried then use a little motor spray or meths for cleaning

1st use a good servo tape like bud's. it wont leave crap like the cheap stuff that sadly looks the same.

if need to remove the crap. the quick easy way is with traction compound. yes traction compound. just like traction itself, paragon works best heh

3M has a double sided tape I get at walmart that is clear in color with red colored backing. It rolls right off without residue. Only double sided tape I'll ever use.

Here is a link showing you what it is.
