If you can spend a few more dollars, the t4 would be the best choice. I would have said a xxx-t but those are not made any more.

You can get a xxx-t sport rtr 2 off ebay new for pretty cheap. JR XR2i radio, z590 servo, 19t motor, novak esc, What else could you want for a RTR?

how old is he? that could make a difference, my first truck was the rustler xl-5 when i have aboult 10. it was great to start with but if hes about my age (14) then i would go with the t4.

Get a good kit and make it ready to run yourself. The RTR's cost more and most of the stuff that comes with em sucks anyways. Do it once, do it right!

he's 10 and ive set the budget @ 200 bucks. so a kit is out of the question. he just needs more track time not a top o line truck wont make a difference right now. thinking the hpi e firestorm rtr is my best bet and looks to be a nice truck from what ive seen.....

Get the T4RS, I picked up the refurb directly from AE for 199.99... After 30% ebay live cashback came out to about $140 (pending cashback). I wouldn't trade it for anything else out right now RTR.

Stock radon 17t is plenty fast (you may even want to swap it for a stock motor, thats what I did).
