It is our distinct pleasure to announce the following two events:

2009 ROAR Off-Road Indoor Great Lakes Championships will be hosted by Battle Front Gaming and R/C on February 7th, 2009.

2009 Dirt Oval Indoor Great Lakes Championships will be hosted by Battle Front Gaming and R/C on February 28th, 2009.

All of the details of this event will be coming soon, so check back to find out what the plan is. Please start to spread the word around so we can make this event a huge success just like our regional event a few months ago was. We look forward to hosting this event for the R/C community.

Glad to hear that there are still people who enjoy both off-road and oval racing! We will have details on the event soon, we look forward to seeing you come out and join us.

but whatever. I,m there.
Hey Swint, great to know you will be out also. There are several reasons to make this a ROAR event, but the three main reasons are:

1. 75+ people from region 5 signed up for new ROAR memberships when we hosted the last ROAR event at Battle Front. We wanted to try to help everyone get more than 1 event from their paid memberships. So for many people this event wont cost them anything extra. I know you didnt make it to the ROAR regional, so this will make it necessary for you pay a little extra to race in this event.

2. Being a ROAR sanctioned event gives us a little more credibility. You know that there are rules in place, and each racer knows that a structured format will be used for the event. Everyone knows how well the ROAR regional went, so you can expect this event to be run with the same high standards.

3. Our regional director, Terry Rott, has gone out of his way to support this region and the R/C racing that takes place here. He stepped up a few months ago and helped put West Michigan back on the map for R/C racing when he backed our ROAR regional race. I believe I can say that everyone enjoyed the racing at that event, and this is a nice way for us to show Terry and ROAR that their support will not go unrecognized. We want to host another event and represent ROAR with the same high standards we did at the regional race.

Yes, but its hard to get a real feel for the scale of it in these pictures. www.fatalimpactracing.com

Just to give you an idea, the 90 degree table top in the back corner is 6 feet tall, and the crossover jump is almost 2 feet tall. Track is 100 foot X 40 foot.

Looks good. when I was there for the region 5 I saw the dirt oval. What tires work on the indoor? I'm gonna have to mark my calender.

The indoor track uses the same clay/sand mix as the outdoor track, so most of the time the traction is awesome. We sweep the track, not water during races. Overnight we will water it to keep moisture in it.

Holeshots hook up great, Panther Switch Clay 2.0 work well, and I hear Pink Tapers work good but they burn up quick.

I dont own an oval R/C so I am not sure what tires to go with for that.

Glad to hear your thinking of coming back up to race with us. Lets hope the weather works out good for us and the roads are clean for everyone. Should be a nice turnout for sure!

Default Changes and Updates

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to give you a quick update on this event because several things have changed. First off, there was a great deal of concern on the part of the oval racers that the track may be beat up after the off-road ROAR event the previous day. For that reason this event will be moved to Saturday February 28, 2009. Practice will be held on Friday February 27, 2009.

Also there has been a lot of talk about the sanctioned ROAR classes and what would be run at this event. Because so much of what we race in this region does not fit well into the ROAR rules, we will not make this an official ROAR event. This will open the up the event for classes like unlimited late models, sliders, and stadium trucks.

The Off-Road race remains unchanged. Please make a point to note those changes, more details will be available soon.
