I think anything that is no longer in production and is a pain in the butt to find parts for is considered vintage in my book.

Like an x-ray touring car that only needs to be a few years old. Does anyone know when the first xx came out?

The Losi XX it's an awesome car, It can still hang with the newer stuff, and it's built tough, I ran mine this past Saturday, with a 10.5 brushless and lipo battery, in the 19/10.5 class, against the newer XXXs,RB5s and B4s, and I was keeping up with them, even leading the race for a couple of laps.

I've been racing it for 3-4 months now, and I've only broken the rear pivot mount, due to a bad crash.

Some parts from the XXX are interchangeable with the XX, like the rear pivot support, CVDs, Spur gear assembly, and wheels.

As for body, I mock fitted an RB5 body onto it, and with a bit of creative cutting, it will fit almost perfect on the XX. You can still buy a new XX body from Horizonhobby.com, which own Losi now.

You made a good choice in buying a XX.
The XX was released at around 1993 and 1994.

Also, there is plenty of parts availability on:

I think the XX buggy came out in early '94, maybe late '93. Based on protos ran at the '93 worlds I think.

WOa, you got the blue motor plate awesome....

Now, take apart the tranny, give it a good cleaning, maybe buy a new set of bearings, re-grease and re-assemble, and run the heck out of it. you'll be pleasantly surprised

It is very easy to mod current wheels to fit on a classic gold tub, then if you want to use modern out drives that is very easy also. Very easy to mount current arms, pretty easy to mount just about anything from the current AE buggies to the gold tub...Wheels and tires are so easy to do it is a no brainer. If you are wanting a 100% vintage buggy or truck then you have to do some looking but everything is still very easy to find. If you want to race it, and they still do pretty well in a club setting you can get your gold tub up 20yrs with modern arms and such...it is a blast to run your old stuff, I just dusted off my old gold tub that I had from the 80's...it was a blast and it did not do too bad. The old T2 is going to a practice night tonight, just got it going last night....LONG LIVE OLD SCHOOL!!!!

Do some reasearch before you listen to much what is said on the internet, much of it is garbage.

Check out rc10talk.com and you can get all the info

The idea of a Losi XX-4 being "vintage" is crazy. The XX-4 is still widely used today and is very competitive.
We ran a Vintage class last year at our local race track. Your vehicle had to be made before 1990. Lots of rc10's, a couple Grasshoppers, a Frog and a Hornet. An old Losi something, and I run a Dyna Storm. Now Im sure one of you guys out there know that The Dyna Storm was too knew for the rules. Well they didn't, So I ran it! The point to all this is that we considedered anything built 1990 or earlier was Vintage.
