Default Plane guy getting into cars -n- trucks

Hey guys,

I'm the new guy, sort of. I used to run on road and off road 10-15 years ago and got out of it. I got back into RC about 6 years ago, but flying planes and helis. I now have a bunch of 3s 3300 to 3700 packs that I'd like to use in a recently purchased RC10T. I'd like to go brushless with it. I was hoping that maybe if I went with a lower KV like 3500ish that maybe I could use my 3s packs?

Is my thinking right? I've read through the online FAQ's about that here a little, but I guess I'm a tad confused still.

Thanks in advance for letting me ask the newbie questions.
