Default Looking for a cheap ESC

Been into nitro lately and am a newb when it comes to electric. I bought an old Tamiya kit and need a CHEEP ESC with reverse. I'll be using the stock 540 motor with the kit, no brushless or lipo.

What do you guys recommend?
Thanks!

Oh also: Are there ESC's that incorporate the receiver and ESC all in one? It appears on the box of this kit that Tamiya makes an all in one unit. Interesting if so.

look into the duratrax intellispeed with reverse. you can pick them up for like 20.00-30.00. I ran one in my sons dirt buggy for a couple of years until I saw the need to upgrade his gear.

^^ that's a good ESC.

Also, the Tamiya TEU-101BK is good for standard motors. You can go down to about a mild 23 turn stock with them too if you want. Keep it all Tamiya

The "all in one" unit is the Tamiya CPR unit. Never used one. I don't really like the idea of the fact that if you have an issue with it, you lose your Receiver AND your ESC at the same time!

Hey Allen! Still have it, the Turmoil is still mint and as nice as the day you sold it as I haven't run it yet. Since Sportwerks is going out of business I figure it'll be a collectible and worth thousands in 20 years or so

if anyone else is reading this for info, a good cheap ESC to look into would be the Futaba MC230CR for stock and 19T running from what I experienced.

its small, has 6V BEC, reverse with reverse lockout, and can be had relatively cheap. You also get futaba quality. I liked using this ESC and its better MC330CR cousin in my touring cars as well as micros.
