Default HPI RS4 MT: alternative 0ff-road

Hi! Does anyone have an HPI RS4 MT? Just want to know if this is a good buy before getting one? Just want a kit that can take the rigors of off-road yet still be smooth on-road. Plus the 4WD feature is a nice bonus. Thanks.

I don't have one but we sell them at the LHS that I work at. I think they are great cars for starting out with. HPI has good parts quailty and availability, so when you break a suspension arm, which I know you will, you'll be able to get a replacement quickly and painlessly . If you get the kit you will have to also buy: 2 channel radio with 2 servos, fuel, glowstarter, tire glue and body paint. If you get the RTR you will have to buy: fuel, glowstarter, tire glue and paint, plus you dont have to build it if you dont want to . Personally, I think that you should get the kit because its good to know how the car goes together and makes it easier to do regular maintenance on them.

You will be very happy with the MT for bashing. It's fairly light, yet pretty durable. I've got one I would sell right now, since I don't have time for it. There are no electronics, just the rolling chassis. I had an Orion 14x2 in it and it was just as fast as my T-Maxx. I've only got maybe a dozen runs in it. You can aim me or email me. I have an electric mt, and it is one fun truck. I usually bash with it in a big open field near my house. Often the grass is on the high side, higher than a rally car can handle, but the mt has no problem with it. The kit jumps well, and is very durable. Boil your a-arms for 10 minutes and they will hold up to all but the hardest hits. I have broken only 2 in almost a year. Both were full power hits into non moving objects.

I also raced it on parking lot asphalt track and did surprising well, usually winning every race unless my buddy brought his emt out there to challenge me.

Default I LOVE MY RS4 MT

I just recently bought an rs4 mt, it was fun for a while, then i wanted more speed out of it so the first thing i did was take off the 4wd. It took a little bit but that was the first thing to make it faster. Second, i bought a clearance 11 turn reedy modified motor. I swear my truck can hit what my carpet racer does with a stock motor now, but i can do that speed off road. Just thought i would tell you that i love my truck.

i have the rs4 mt, i got it a few years back when it came out. it was fun for a bit, but i moved on to 1/8th scale gas offroad. i dont really use it anymore. now, the nitro rs4 mt is a different story. i saw 2 of those run at the local offroad track yesterday. a stock one and a modded one. both were very impressive, especially the modded one. i am very impressed with its speed, jumping capability, and handling on the track.
