Default 1/8 brushless help

I'm converting my MBX5R into a brushless racer.

SPECS:
RC Product design motor mount and front bearing mount
medusa 036-60-2200v2 2200kv motor
axial battery tray cheap and it'll work
14T pinion 46T spur gear
Mamba monster max esc
Thunder power 18.5v 4600mah lipo

Here's my main concern. I have looked everywhere and have read different lipos used. How much runtime on a large 1/8 race track outside should I get. I'm hoping it's just over 20mins or I'm going to buy a bigger lipos.

Please help me...

I get 30+ minutes track time with a neu 1515 1y (2200kv) in a converted 3.3 Revo running a Neu Power 14.8v 5000mah 25c. If your C rating is 20+ on that thunder power given the lighter weight of the buggy 20+ mins should be no problem.

If you already have the lipo, run it and find out. if you find yourself coming up short get a larger capacity.. If you don't already have it just get the larger capacity now and not worry about it.

I just bought an mbx5r roller to convert myself and will be throwing the revo gear in it. Enjoy it!

Thanks I'm hoping I can get about 22mins for the mains. I just bought a lightly used thunder power 18.5v 4600mah for just over $120 shipped thats half way. If this doesn't get me to 22 mins or atleast 20mins then I'm going true RC lipo 14.8v 8000mah, that'll get me there but DAMN $230 for it.

20 minutes can be done. This is what I think determines the race time and here are a few factors to look at:

Gearing - Just be as fast as the nitro guys but not faster. This will help with run time cause you are not using more power then you need.

Driving style - Light with the trigger finger. Smooth is very important here.

Temps of the Motor, Battery and ESC. - This something you need to check on often till you see haw all of it going to play out over a 20 minute main. All the temps are determined by the gearing and driving style.

Good luck and have fun,
Joe

Thanks.
Now can I put 2 lipos togther to make my runtimes longer. I thinking about buying the same exact battery, but a 3300mah. SO i'd be putting togther 2 thunder power 18.5v batteries 1 with 4600mah and the other 3300mah. Would this be safe and I would separate and charge/balance individually.

your driving style will have a lot to do with how fast your drain the battery as well. Keep that in mind too.

You should get right at 20 minutes with that setup. I can get right at 20 minutes of race time with a 5s 4000 pack in my rc8. The medusa isn't as efficient as a Neu, but 20 +/- minutes should be doable with your current setup.

This is a bad idea, it would over draw the 3300mah pack. You want 2 packs of the mah and C rating when running multiples. you can mix voltages running in series, a 2s and 3s to make 5s, but parallel for extended run time you want 2 of the same packs with roughly the same cycles on them.
