This will be my first brushless experience so i would like to get something reliable with a bit of speed to it but not a huge price tag. The car runs a saddle pack setup and i have some Intellect 4600 NIMH packs for it currently, would these be enough if i went brushless?

All help is much appreciated!

Thanks
Check out the brushless set-ups at Banzaimotors. Jeremy Felles just won the Offroad Shootout with a 10.5 and speedo from them. They are great.

I have already looked at the Banzai motors. Unfortunately with the current Aus to US $ exchange rate that pushes the budget a fair bit.

I have sourced a venom pro 120a brushless esc for $135 Aus or roughly US$90 (brand new). That was the advertised price i have sent off an email to confirm that price. For that i cant go past the venom as it seems to be a very good value for money and allows me to go with the novak SS 10.5 pro motor.

I run a Tekin RS Pro and a Peak Racing Vantage 4.5 turn motor in my AE B44. It's an absolute missle! I barely have to touch the trigger to get the car around the track.

Just an update on the brushless system.
I went with exactly what Losi123 suggested, which was the novak ss 10.5 and the venom pro 120A esc.

This combo runs so nice and is very quick.

Also just like to mention that i am very happy with Venom product/customer support. As i broke one of the leads out of the plug for the fan as i was in a bit to much of a hurry to get the system up and running. Thin leads and a tiny plug makes it very painful to try and repair, so i shot off an email to venom, received a reply within a couple of days to let me know they dont have any replacements fans in stock and that they would have a look to see if they had any bad ESC's that they could get a fan off. I really was just expecting an email back saying they dont sell them seperately so to bad.

Good that you went with the Venom and saved a few $$. I have the Xerun 120A which is the mfg brand. Nice ESCs.

Well i got it for more than a nice price $135 AUS brand new, which is about US $87

Also i got another reply from venom, they forwarded my email to the Australian venom representative, and he just asked for my address and said he would send out replacement fan, no mention of cost in the email, so i am rather suprised.

I would look at the Tekin RS Pro with the Tekin 10.5 or The LRP Shpere Comp and a Novak 10.5
Both motors and esc's are the best in my eyes
The Tekin Tech support is the best.
For 2wd the sphere feels smoother than the Tekin but thats a 2wd thing
You running 4wd i would be really looking at the RS Pro from tekin

tdeal i already have the ESC and motor.

And budget was the biggest factor. If there was no budget to work around i would have definitely gone with something top end, but i am very happy with how the venom (although it is a bit chunky) has performed with the 10.5

Even threw a 4.5 in there and it handle that no problems what so ever. And it was amazingly fast.

When i have the wallet to support it a high end ESC with a smaller footprint i will definitely be going that way.

You could try one of the systems from Yeah Racing. I ordered one for my Kyosho lazer zx-5 for 77.63 with shipping from Hong Kong.

I got the 13t but they make a 12t, 10t, and 9t as well.
good luck.

They are not top end but they work the close enough.
