New Traxxas Summit - Thoughts/Opinions?
Traxxas just released the "Summit" electric off-road truck. Does anyone have any first hand reviews or experience with this thing yet? It looks pretty neat. It weighs in at a hefty $742.99 at TowerHobbies.com

I dont have any experience with it or crawlers in general. However I can tell you that it will be much cheaper then that. Tower always lists high until the release date is close. Looking at horizonhobby they have it listed at $514.99 and expected in late December.

Yeah....way too expensive!!

I have to admit, I've kind of been one of those guys who scratches his head at the idea of R/C rock crawling...but watching the promo for this truck really piqued my interest, makes me think it might actually be fun. They have some pretty neat innovations in there, with the remote locking diff and whatnot.
Traxxas really seems to be picking up some steam, with the success of the Slash. |
Traxxas is starting to get there ass in gear. Im thinking about getting a Summit but ill wate tell the price comes down.

it took 5 years for the xl5s to drop $20, so don't hold your breath, it will be a little more than $500, but with a $50 tower code..

Coolest monster ever what else have you seen crawl up stairs!
|
One tough truck made tougher. Go Traxxas!!!!
|
Looks cool.
With all their resources you would think they would put some effort into some race vehicles. They had a capable buggy back in the 90's. |
It's not my cup of tea.
|
i think traxxas would do better if they sell cheaper cars like the slash. its very affordable and every has got one. the summit probaly gets 1/4 of the sales compared to the slash

Got to see one of these last week, and have to admit that I was pretty impressed. The locking diffs, and selectable 2 speed tranny are genius. Also the lights being built into the bumpers rather than the body is pretty clever. No pesky wires to deal with that way. I'm not sure how competitive the Summit will be in comparison to other crawlers, but this thing would be a no brainer for your average backyard basher.
